Up for auction is a 1953 Chevrolet 5-window pickup truck. This is an awesome truck built for looks, performance, and dependability.

We drove the truck on a 4 hour trip last week and I can tell you that this truck is a real pleasure to drive and it’s a real attention grabber also. The truck rides smooth, handles excellent, and it has lots of power to spare. It really is a very enjoyable truck to drive and the new owners will be very pleased with the performance of this truck!

The stance is great and it has a new dark wood bed with stainless strips, all new tinted glass and new rubber seals, all new chrome and trim, red steel wheels with Goodyear Wrangler radials, and the fuel tank was relocated under the bed.

The engine chosen for this build is a 2007 Vortec 6.0L V8 LQ4 which is the truck version of the LS family of motors.

Engine Overview

The Vortec 6.0L V8 (LQ4) uses advanced technologies including aluminum cylinder heads and a thermoplastic intake manifold. Its deep-skirt engine block allows cross-bolting of the bearing caps, limiting crank flex, stiffening the engine's structure and reducing overall vibration. Its cylinder heads have replicated ports that are identical in every detail, allowing constant cylinder-to-cylinder airflow.

Until the advent of the premium Vortec 6.0L HO (LQ9), the LQ4 was the largest and most powerful of GM Powertrain’s Gen III Vortec V8s.

The LQ4 was designed and built to deliver maximum durability with minimal maintenance. A steel camshaft provides excellent durability. Steel roller rockers add stiffness, allowing greater engine speed with less vibration. Hydraulic roller lifters reduce friction for better fuel economy and wear resistance. Floating-pin pistons reduce operational noise. The iridium spark plugs extend anticipated plug life to 100,000 miles, while the coolant maintains its cooling and corrosion-inhibiting properties for 150,000 miles. The returnless fuel injection system and the latest gasket technology allow the engine to meet near-zero evaporative emissions standards.

The Transmission is the matching 4L80-E.

The interior is custom restored with Mocha leather seats that are absolutely comfortable with the driver seat being power. It has tilt steering, cold air conditioning, new carpet, door panels and headliner, Lokar shifter, and Tri Tech gauges. This truck lights up very well at night also with DOT LED headlights with internal turn signals and rear taillights as well.

The underside is clean and neat with a powder coated frame, stainless dual exhaust (that sounds awesome), and a rack and pinion front end including tubular A-Arms and coil overs.

This is a very good 53 Chevy pickup that is dependable and starts with one turn of the key first time and every time. It goes down the road straight and true and it rides smooth and it is just a real pleasure to drive it… and a lot of fun. You can look a long time and not find a truck like this one for sale, so don’t miss it.
