This is a great truck to just drive or to restore. Clock says 32,XXX miles, but who knows? It starts right up even after sitting for several days and doesn’t smoke. I bought it last summer to make Home Depot runs and I’ve only put a couple hundred miles on it. I’ve since bought a full sized van, so I don’t need the truck anymore. Clean title in my name. Registered until June 30th.

I’ve put quite a bit of work into it to make it safe and drivable. I put on a rebuilt carb and replaced some small bits (taillight lenses, tailgate hinge, glove box…), and I had a new windshield installed. After I bought it I took it to Benner Auto in Oakland and told them I wanted the truck to be safe enough for me to drive with my two-year-old daughter. They did a bunch of work on the steering linkages and wheel bearings and installed new brake shoes, brake lines, and wheel cylinders (see more complete list below). Benner does a lot of work on vintage cars & trucks. I asked them to go though the truck to identify any issues. Rust: other than minor surface rust they didn’t find any of concern, especially where it counts (major structural components, cab mounts, etc.). There is one dime sized hole in the driver’s floorboard. Most of the other things they found I had them fix, except for changing the oil and heater hoses (I was going to do that myself but never got to it).

This is a mostly untouched truck with mostly original paint. I know the word patina is overused, but this truck’s got it. The reason I bought it is because of the way the paint looks. Just don’t lean against it in your good clothes. The hood is probably not the original and the white paint on the bed seems to have been touched up by a non-professional (dude with a rattle can). There is a dent in the right front fender and a couple of dings here and there, but overall the body is pretty straight. The interior is in decent shape and could look very good, if that’s important to you, by putting in a headliner and putting the instrument cluster back together. The bench seat is in good shape and appears to have been re-covered.

-292 V8 Y-block with 2 barrel carb- the motor has been re-built. No idea how many miles, but it runs strong and does not smoke. The carb is a new re-built (~200 miles)

-Trans: 4-on-the-floor with a granny gear (for pulling out tree stumps?)

-Manual steering and manual brakes

Work I did:

-New (re-built) carb

-New windshield

-New fuel pump and lines (previous owner)

-New crossover pipe (quirk of the y-block engine)

Work done by Benner Auto:

-New front king pins and bushings.

-Alignment

-New front brake hoses

-New front shocks

-New front and rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders
