    History

Back in the 90s two automotive craftsmen started making very "high end" Gullwing reproductions. One was
Herman Quint who started Quint Automotive, located in Waterbury, Connecticut. The other was Tony
Ostermeirer who started Gullwing Motors, located in Gardenia, California. Quint produced Gullwings using a
1982 Corvette chassis shortened three inches and Corvette running gear and engine. To make the fiberglass
body as rigid and strong as an original Gullwing he used six layers of fiberglass cloth, each hand laminated
using brushes and rollers. The fiberglass body was then fitted onto an intricate steel jig frame constructed from
an original car's dimensions. This holds the body to its exact dimensions so the doors, hood and trunk can be
attached precisely. To give the body extra strength and stability hand-fitted steel tubing was embedded into the
fiberglass. The tubing provides a double roll cage for added safety.

Quint made less than 50 cars. This car is one of those. It was never finished lacking most interior pieces and
almost all the bright work and trim when Sal Desimone purchased the car in 2003 and shipped it to Long Beach,
California. He was an acquaintance of Tony Ostermeier so he sent the car to him to finish. All the interior
parts, including gauges and complete dash as well as all badging, chrome bumpers, grill, taillights and door
supports were supplied by Ostermeier. The car was of such quality and high caliber that he allowed the
Gullwing Motor ID plate to be attached to it and personally signed the sun visor. That makes this car the only
one is existence that both premier reproduction Gullwing builders had a hand in and it is the only one Mr.
    Ostermeier ever signed.

    The Car

The car was purchased from Mr. Desimone in December 2008. The car sat in a hanger in the Long Beach Airport
for four years and needed some TLC. The car was brought to another level by Superior Auto Body in
Gresham, Oregon, who did a six-month restoration which included a new recon '82 Corvette chassis, all new
electrical wiring, new 350ci engine, new suspension and brakes and overhauled transmission.

The body was stripped of all paint and taken down to bare fiberglass and completely disassembled. It was then
epoxy primed and finished with three coats of DuPont 180 Silver Urethane paint. More than $23,000.00 was
spent on the body and paint work alone. A new stereo system was also installed.

Car is very reliable and tight- no squeaks. AC runs cold, power steering, brakes and tires are excellent.

Stored in heated garage. There are no known problems with this vehicle.

This car is a blast to drive. It drives and corners like a Vette and unlike the original has power steering, power
brakes and air conditioning, plus it's economical to maintain. Any mechanic can work on it. It's the closest to
driving the real thing you can get at a fraction of the price.

Caution - If you don't like attention or answering questions, don't drive it.
