This little gem of a 280SL was delivered new to California (US Spec) as a “Coupe”, with removable hardtop only and automatic transmission. Older, DB 534 “Fire Engine Red”, paint shows very well and appears to be single stage. There are a few touched up flaws. No dents to speak of. Chrome presents strongly. Engine fires up effortlessly and accelerates strongly and smoothly. No signs of accidents or rust anywhere on the vehicle. The little grooves beside the headlights on the body are still there (this is a great sign as many cars no longe have this, indicating front body work). It is a great driver, too nice to be restored, not a show winner, just an enjoyable well cared for survivor. Interior looks original with correct German square weave carpeting throughout. Wood on the dash is a little dry, but not cracked, and in need of a little TLC. Gaps are nice, tires have tread, headliner is in good condition, has original correct Becker Europa radio. Trunk rubber is original and in very good condition. Odometer is showing 1,840 miles, the car is too nice to have rolled over twice, so original mileage is very likely 101,840. I’m happy to walk around the car and go over it in detail with any interested parties. No surprises, this is an honest California 280SL looking for a new caretaker!
