The Pontiac Catalina is an automobile which was part of Pontiac's full-sized line from 1950 to 1981. Initially, the name was used strictly to denote hardtop body styles, first appearing in the 1950 Chieftain Eight and DeLuxe Eight lines. In 1959, the Catalina became a separate model, as the 'entry-level' full-size Pontiac. For 1960, Catalina and other Pontiacs received a minor facelift from the '59 body with a new full-width horizontal bar grille similar to the 1930s Cord replacing 1959's split grill, but only for 1960, and round taillights. Body styles and drive-train offerings were unchanged from 1959. New to the option list was a "Sportable Transistor" radio that could be used in the car in place of the regular "in-dash" radio or removed from the car for use as a portable with battery power. Also new for 1960 were the optional "eight lug" aluminum wheels with integral brake drums that not only enhanced the car's looks but also provided improved stopping power. Another popular option for performance enthusiasts was the "Safe-T-Track" limited slip differential. In the engine compartment the gusher type (water injection over the exhaust valves- reverse flow type) cooling system was replaced by a conventional V8 cooling system. Turn Signals were standard, while the A/C was $430 and padded dash was $19. This 1960 Pontiac Catalina Convertible was previously owned by the same owner that owned our 1960 Pontiac Bonneville Covertible. The two convertibles were “his & hers” cars that resided in their Arizona summer home for the couple’s drives on lovely desert days. However, the couple moved permanently to AZ and no longer had room for their Pontiac pair, so now we have each Pontiac in stock to be the matchmaker for their next love story. The Catalina you see here is absolutely beautiful and in great shape! The new lines of the 1960 Catalina are coated in a beautiful shade of blue that has recently been professionally repainted to a high standard. The paint is in excellent condition and shows no notable imperfections. The body is very solid and sound. Both front and rear bumpers, as well as all emblems, look excellent and appear to have been rechromed as there are no notable imperfections or pitting to be seen. Inside, the Catalina’s interior is finished in blue interior that looks great. The inside of the car has been very well taken care of and it shows. Everything from the seats to the dash, the underside of the convertible top to the carpet looks great. The dash appears to be original and still houses its original gauges that really set off the inside of this convertible. The convertible top is finished in white and looks great as it complements the blue exterior. The top shows no notable imperfections. Under the hood, you will find the original 389 cubic inch Tempest V8 attached to a 4 speed automatic transmission. This car does have power steering and power brakes. Transferring the power to the ground, you will see that the original Pontiac Motor Company chrome wheels are still intact and look great with white wall tires wrapped around them. The current mileage shows 63,230 and the VIN is 160W17385. This Catalina is being sold on a free and clear title. Get out & drive!!
