In 1989, to commemorate the 20^th Anniversary of the Trans-Am, a total of 1,555 special 20^th Anniversary Trans-Am’s were produced. These vehicles came from the factory with a unique drivetrain, consisting of a special 3.8 liter, intercooled, turbocharged engine backed by a heavy duty 4-speed transmission. This engine is much the same as the turbo V-6 powerplant shared from the 1986-87 Buick Grand National; however different heads were implemented for improved exhaust flow and combustion chamber design. Subsequently, different pistons were required, a cross-drilled crank was utilized and a larger 12 fin/inch Buick GNX-style intercooler was adopted along with specially designed stainless steel headers and a high-pressure fuel pressure regulator. Although Pontiac officially rated the horsepower at 250hp, in reality it developed an honest 301hp on the GM dyno. The Turbo TA also came with substantially upgraded brakes. The front discs are 12 inch police rotors with Corvette twin piston aluminum calipers, these brakes are virtually fade proof. The rear discs were also increased to 12 inches in 1989 and use Corvette single piston calipers. Car and Driver magazine tested the car and it scorched the drag strip with a 0-60 mph blast of 4.6 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 13.4 seconds at 101 mph and a top speed of 153 mph! The 20^th Anniversary Trans-Am was selected to pace the Indianapolis 500 and it marked the first time a production car would not need any performance modifications to pace the field.

Original Turbo TA owners were sent a special box containing the door stickers, a Turbo TA keychain, cassette tape, and a leather owner’s manual cover. This car comes with those items and only has a staggering 287 original miles and still has the original tires!!! In addition to three pace cars, an additional 162 “Festival” Turbo TA’s were at Indy for VIP and parade duty. All of the cars at Indy, including the three pace cars, had T-tops and cloth interiors. This car was one of the Festival cars (Documented) used at the track in Indy making it even more collectible!

This may very well be the lowest mileage 1989 Pace Car Trans-Am in existence. The only other super low mileage TTA I have been able to find has close to 600 miles on it. Earlier this year another Festival TTA was sold at Barrett-Jackson Auction. That car had 10,000 miles on it, showed an accident record on the history report and sold for $31,350. The condition of this car is great, but I would like to mention that due to the age of the tires there are some cracking down in between the tread lines and if you look at the picture of the center console on the drivers side just to the left of the shifter you will notice that the console has seperated a little away from the center console.

As for the three actual pace cars, one now resides in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, another is in the Pontiac collection, and one was presented to race winner Emerson Fittipaldi. Other than those three, this one may very well be the next most desirable TTA in existence!!! Don’t miss this rare opportunity to be the lucky owner of a very rare and collectible part of history.

Airport and Transportation Info - We will be happy to pick you up from the Springfield-Branson Regional Airport (SGF) free of charge. Please make sure to give us reasonable notice of arrival.

Balance of Payment Due - The buyer agrees to pay remaining balance due within 7 days of the close of the auction. All financial transactions must be completed before delivery of the vehicle.

Vehicle Titles - Some vehicle titles are on hand and ready for delivery. Some vehicle titles may be held by our lender. In these cases, there may be a short delay in receiving the title and/or documents which can take 10-21 days from the time we pay the vehicle off. If payment is made via wire transfer or cashier's check, we will hold the titles for 5-10 business days or until ALL funds have cleared.

Vehicle Shipping - We are able to assist the buyer with finding a shipping company - The buyer is responsible for All shipping charges. We only contract through fully bonded and insured transportation services that will deliver the vehicle to your door. We are not affiliated with any Transportation Company and we assume NO responsibility for damages that may incur after your vehicle leaves our premises. If the vehicle is going to be shipped, full payment must be received before the vehicle is delivered to the shipping company.

Buyer Inspections - Every effort has been made to accurately and fairly describe this vehicle to you. Pro-Motion Motorsports has tried to disclose all information known about this vehicle for you to make an informed decision. Please be advised that used vehicles will have typical scratches and dings inherent for their year and mechanical parts are subject to fail. We welcome and recommend a buyer's inspection. If you plan to have a buyers inspection, please make sure you inspect the vehicle prior to the auction ending. Buyer is responsible for any inspection charges and fees. Buyers Inspections MUST be completed prior to 24 hours before the end of auction.
