1997 VOLVO S90 EXECUTIVE CLASS

4 DOOR SEDAN

In 1997 this was the top of the line in Volvo's engineered luxury executive class automobiles.  This automobile is loaded with features offered in 1997.  This car has been my comfort cruiser for years, but unfortunately my work is requiring me to increase my drive time and mileage and I've decided to upgrade to a new auto.  "TEX" was acquired from his original owner, a Doctor in the Dallas area of Texas.  Both the original owner and I had "TEX" serviced by authorized Volvo dealerships.  I recently changed to an exclusively Volvo mechanic after the dealership I was using was caught making unnecessary repairs. The condition of "TEX" is in overall FAIR condition with 282,411 miles as of 4/10/2014

INTERIOR CONDITION

The interior condition is EXCELLENT with minor wear and tear for the usage.  The seats have only one or two tiny holes, the leather cracking is very minimal, there are no missing or broken trim, there is NO cigarette/ cigar smoke smell or staining, the headliner has one tiny snag and does not sag.  The interior leather coloring is a light gray as is the matching suede areas. There are four (4) floor mats that have taken the brunt of any weather related footwear.  The front driver and passenger seats are heated.  The media console consists of an AM/FM radio, CD player as well as a cassette player.  In the trunk is a CD changer for playing multi CDs.  The 6 speakers are located in each door, as well as on the rear deck. To accent the gray interior is a dark, rich wood grain style trim that gives a luxury appearance.  There is a "WINTER PACKAGE" for better driving in snow.  Heating and cooling is via a multi zone climate control.  The rear passenger seating area offers a mid-seat fold down storage rest with an opening to the trunk area for ski storage on the inside of the auto !  This had plenty of use in saving my skis from being exposed to the elements. For safety there are dual air bags in the front seating section.  The S90 also comes equip ed with Anti-Theft Protection.  A last quality touch are the "all around" tinted windows. 

POWER CONTROLS

The POWER options are outstanding with Power Side Mirrors, Power Seats, Power Locks (external & internal), Power Windows, Dual Position Power Moon Roof, Rear Window Defroster, Intermittent Wipers, Power Antenna.

POWER TRAIN

Manufactured at the Gothenborg, Sweden plant the S90 has a 2.9 liter, inline 6 cylinder engine and a 4 speed automatic transmission.  It has 2  wheel drive, plus the "WINTER MODE" that allows for power drive distribution to all 4 wheels during snowy, sleet, or heavy rain driving conditions.  Anti Lock Brakes are standard on the S90.

EXTERNAL CONDITION

"TEX"  is in need of some external repair work.  The worst damage occurred when a "buck" decided to try and tackle "TEX" on the opening day of deer hunting season here in New York.  Coming out of nowhere HE ran into the front quarter panel / hood area of "TEX".  While the "buck" rolled over twice in the road, he got up and took off into the woods.  "TEX" incurred some damage of the front (see photos) and will require some body work to repair the hood (twisted), plastic front grill, headlight alignment (headlights work) and plastic by the front hood latch.  I replaced the passenger side directional signal assembly.  Depending upon your specific State Inspection requirements, and your desire for a "used" auto, some of the repairs may not have to be done.  The rocker panel, beneath the rear driver side door, sustained some damage when the tire jack slipped when a tire was being changed.  It does not effect anything except for "cosmetic" appearance. The rear bumper on the driver side has sustained some scraping, again only "cosmetic".  The rear bumper on the driver side has been repaired using a screw (see photo).  There are several other minor "dings", and scratches that are consistent with an auto with this mileage.

DRIVEABILITY / REPAIRS NEEDED

I am by no means a mechanic, qualified or otherwise. "TEX" is in need of front brake rotor and pad replacement, as the pedal is "too the floor".  The rear brakes were replaced in the fall.  While there are no real driveability issues, other than the brake work, the power steering has a leak in the front end, and some front end work might be needed to "tighten things up".  The "Service"  light came on this week so that the Volvo scheduled maintenance is now due.  The AC is in need of charging....did not need to use it during the winter we had here in the Northeast !  The heater system, like in all of the 6 Volvo's I've owned since 1984, is excellent.  Tires might have to be replaced depending upon your personal preferences and State Laws.

DELIVERY

The auto is being sold with local, lower New York State, pick up required 1  I cannot make pick up arrangements, but will assist, to the best of my ability, in facilitating pick up by buyer or an authorized agent of buyer.  There is NO loading dock available.  Best means of transport would be via "flatbed" service.  The auto CANNOT be driven safely due to the condition of the brakes !
