1971 Ford Boss 351 Mustang

History

The Ford Mustang is an automobile manufactured by the Ford Motor Company. It was initially based on the second generation North American Ford Falcon, a compact car. Introduced early on April 17, 1964, dubbed as a "1964½" model by Mustang fans, the 1965 Mustang was the automaker's most successful launch since the Model A. The model is Ford's third oldest nameplate in production and has undergone several transformations to its current fifth generation.

The Mustang created the "pony car" class of American automobiles (sports car-like coupes with long hoods and short rear decks) and gave rise to competitors such as GM's Chevrolet Camaro, AMC's Javelin, and Chrysler's revamped Plymouth Barracudas and Dodge Challengers.

The 1971 Boss Mustang looked much like the 1971 Mustang Mach 1 So much So that it could have been called the Mach 2. The significant difference was the Boss 351's very special engine, an exclusive High-Output (HO) 351 Cleveland with four-barrel (4V) carb, soaring 11.0:1 compression and 330 horsepower.

This R Code Boss Mustang came from the private collection of Jim Johnson, an avid Mustang collector. He is also the owner of JJ Mustangs in Chattanooga, TN. This is a very rare Mustang! Only 1,806 were built in 1971. It is only 1 of 254 that came with the Dark Green Metallic “C” paint code and Ginger Ruffino/Corinthian vinyl seats. The mileage is believed to be original.
