1973 Ford F100 Pickup Truck 390 Big Block Automatic

The Story:
I buy and sell oil/gas industry fleet trucks but at 46 years old my heart is firmly rooted in the past when it comes to what I like and appreciate. I found this 1973 F100 covered in dust on the back row of a New Mexico fleet truck auction listed as a repo. It had no battery, nothing in the radiator and I didn't even know if it would run or drive but someone had obviously loved it so I took a chance, over paid (I wasn't the only one that wanted it) and trailered it home. As it turns out, my hunch was right, this truck is a blast to drive, old school and cool, tight and smooth running down the highway. I live in a cabin at 8100 ft way up in the woods above Durango Colorado, dirt roads, big time 4X4 mud and snow country, if this truck was 4x4 I would keep it, period, that is the only reason it is being offered here.

The Good Stuff:
I talked to a guy down south who claims to have some knowledge of this truck, he says it's original 64K miles and I'm inclined to believe him (the original jack is still under the hood) but have no way to tell for sure. He stated the 390 engine has only a few thousand miles on it after a complete rebuild, I believe it, it runs awesome. This dry NM desert truck is rust free, has 4 brand new 31/10.5/15 BFG ATKO tires ($700) on chrome wheels, has a recent complete interior including door panels, headliner, seat, carpet kit and dash, has a very nice Sony Xplod stereo/CD player with removable face and remote control. Also has tinted glass, automatic transmission, power steering, power disc brakes, a brand new battery, a brand new radiator, a new windshield, trailer brakes, chrome rear bumper with class III hitch, dual exhaust with cherry bombs for that sound we all loved in high school. It has an aftermarket fuel gage, the blinkers work as they should, other gages work, doors open and close rock solid etc. This truck starts right up, no smoke, lots of power, smooth, it runs, shifts, drives, steers and stops excellent in every way for a truck of this era. This truck is super tight in every way, tracks dead straight down the highway, gets tons of looks and compliments everywhere I go, I have a constant grin when I drive it.

The Not So Good Stuff:
This truck is 42 years old so there are some negative things to be expected, most in this case are only cosmetic. I am being very "nit-picky" on some of this stuff no matter how small because I value my reputation/feedback and no one likes "surprises" buying a car on-line. One of the rear sliding glass windows is missing, I think this was done when being repossessed to gain access to the cab. The paint appears to be mostly original, though it looks great from a distance, it is very thin in some places, front fenders look like they were repainted in the past, there are scratches on the drivers door and elsewhere (see photos) there are chips and a few little dents/dings here and there (see photos) there is one small rust bubble on the right rear lower quarter panel (see photos) There is a chip in each corner of the rear view mirror, there are scratches in the bed floor (tool box makes me think they drove and used it for work) but it is surprisingly straight, there is some damage to the body next to the left tail light (see photos) there are multiple holes drilled in one place under the dash where something was mounted (see photos) I am trying to be super scrupulous and detailed but am not perfect and may have missed something small. Overall this truck is a great looker/driver and will make someone very happy to own it.

I'm a small family owned business with a stellar reputation. I specialize in rust free, oil/gas industry 4x4 fleet trucks, diesels, duallys, flatbeds, vintage 4X4s etc and ship them all over the world. The cost to list a vehicle on eBay is staggering, if I list it, I want to sell it, make a reasonable offer, if the numbers work, you will own it with an easy transaction and zero hassle. I firmly believe that customer service and communication is key, my feedback and huge volume of repeat business proves it again and again.
