We are selling our beloved Kombi Shirley! She is a 1976 Bay window, pop top camper, that we have had serviced regularly (every 5000km) since we bought her in 2006 from friends in Cairns, QLD.

 

Last year we gave her a full re-conditioned engine! And as we now spend half a lot of time overseas we had been planning to sell her for $12,500 - $15,000… Unfortunately last time we took her for a service, the camshaft bearing came out in the oil after only 38,000 km… this was very un-lucky… and even though it’s a $20 part, the mechanic wants $2000 to for his time to fix it. She is still going but we haven't driven her since (so as not to damage the engine further).  As we are not mechanical, it will cost us $2000 to fix the engine… and another $3000 to get her roadworthy… As we were planning to sell her anyway we would rather not spend this money, so instead we are putting her up for sale AS IS for $8,500 ONO.

 

If you are handy, or have spare kombi or Porsche engines lying around, you could easily get her up and running as your own classic kombi camper or sell her for a nice profit. She is a real beauty and a joy to drive and camp out in.
