I have known this car for 36 years. I rode in the back seat for the first time when I was 10 years old. Four of us kids would squeeze in the back cheek-to-cheek as we went to Stark Street Pizza. A very close friend of my father purchased this GT Torino from the original owners in 1978. I have the bill-of-sale from that purchase in January of 1978. Used only occasionally for the next few years and always kept in-doors. The car has been sitting ignored in the garage for the last 30 years, literally untouched. I took possession at the end of last year and got her on the road again. A local Oregon car that was purchased new at Joe Fisher Ford here in Portland and has always lived within just a few miles of that dealership. Both dealership license plate frames are still on the car and the original owners manual and warranty cards are in the glove box. A very oddly optioned car being a real GT with a column shift 3 speed manual transmission and bucket seat interior with center console. I have the Marti Report pictured at the bottom of this layout. This is an extremely solid and original car. One look at the undersides and trunk is all it takes to fully understand. To call her rare would be a gross understatement. I will provide further details under many of the upcoming photos.

All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable over the years as I've sold members of my collection. I'm grateful for the kind words and compliments I've received. My opinions have guided me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and observations and they may differ from your own. I welcome showing my Convertible in person to anyone with genuine interest. I live very near the Portland Oregon Airport and would gladly pick you up. Each photo shows the Torino clearly and accurately from as many angles as I could think of. It is my intention to make this as close to you seeing and touching the it for yourself as possible. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. My telephone number is 503-575-0404 and calls between 8AM and 9PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 5 days and is scheduled to end on Wednesday evening, the 26th of March at 7:30PM Pacific.

I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and the car becomes no longer available.

*If you are outside of the U.S. or Canada, PLEASE contact me to confirm your bidding activity as genuine.*

Everyone, please be sure to read my terms of sale located near the bottom of this screen. I'm a reasonable person but I will not bend on these basic terms unless previously discussed during the auction. A little communication goes a long way.

NO RESERVE AUCTION

I did not set a reserve price on my Torino. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. I took every picture you're about to see in my driveway at home the day before this auction started. No photo has been altered or enhanced in any way. This is my car and these pictures are true to her in-person appearance. Thanks for your time, DAVE

Although my knowledge of this car is very informed for the last 36 years, I know absolutely nothing about it's history prior to 1978 other than where she was bought new and that she's only had 2 owners.

This is the paint that was on the car in 1978, hood stripes included. Originally Royal Maroon and repainted Turquoise sometime in the 70's. An inexpensive repaint even by 1970's standards. The factory paint can still be seen inside the trunk and within some of the small chips and scratches. Rock solid in all areas with only 2 minor rust spots. One small spot on each rear quarter panel (close-up's provided). Otherwise, the car doesn't even have a rust pimple. The finish actually holds a surprising shine and is a very pretty color. This is how I've always known the car to look. Chrome, stainless trim, emblems, lenses and exterior moldings are in very good original condition with only minor imperfections. Both bumpers are very nice. All glass is crystal clear. There are absolutely NO aftermarket or reproduction pieces anywhere on the car. The overall appearance of the car is quite good. The blemishes are easy to find on close inspection but the car presents well and deserves the thumbs-up and compliments it receives.

I have a strong sentimental side. It is hard to say goodbye to this car and know that I will never see it again. My collection contains several vehicles that I've gotten from my father and close friends over the years, not to mention the cars I've acquired on my own. As a General Motors lover at heart, I'm hoping that a "Ford Guy" will find this advertisement. I simply can't keep all of them forever. Will I regret passing this Torino on to someone else? Probably, but I stand by this decision. She deserves to be someone's pride and joy.

At 46 years old, it's kind of surreal as I sit behind the wheel and drive down the road. It just doesn't seem that long ago that I was getting in the back seat trying to avoid being stuck in the middle. Now, I sure love my brother and sister but when I was a kid I didn't want to be sandwiched between them. Jim's touching me, Sara picked her nose. Sound familiar? Ah, memories.

The view from my from my front porch.

Close-up's shown below but the power convertible top is brand new.

Not rust, just a couple of chips.

This is #1 of only two rust spots on the entire car. This is the passenger rear quarter panel in front of the tire.

Bottoms of front fenders and all along the rocker panels are gorgeous.

The tires are brand new. When I took her out of the garage she had been hibernating in for 30 years, the bias-ply white wall tires from 1980 were all still holding air but I didn't want to risk driving on them.

All glass is very nice and the windows roll up and down easily.

Of course, the hood scoop blinkers work perfectly.

Again, the top is new. The original top was too tattered and aged. Wish I could have left it on the car but I had to replace it.

#2 of only 2 small rust areas. This is the lower portion of the drivers rear quarter panel. Extremely minor but had to be documented. This car has never slept outside in the last 36 years. I assume prior to that it was simply daily transportation for the 9 years that the original owners had it. Oregon does not apply salt during the winter. This car is impressively solid. All inner structures, bottom of doors, fender wells, floors, trunk and undercarriage are mint.

            Not even a rust pimple.

Original grille and brightwork are excellent.

            Power top functions properly.

The top cross bows and frame are excellent.

Yes, I have the original top boot.

With the exception of the drivers seat cover and carpet, the 100% original interior is outstanding.

Every switch, lever and knob operates correctly. This is rarely the case. Due to the constant temperature of the insulated garage she always slept in, moisture and corrosion have NOT gotten to this car.

All lights, gauges, turn signals, brake lights, heater, wipers and horn function correctly. The factory radio works when it wants to.

122,419 total and actual miles since 1969.

Both door panels and rear side panels are excellent.

            The center console is perfect.

The original dash pad is beautiful. These are almost always cracked beyond repair and nice ones are impossible to find.

Based on my explorations, the factory wiring appears like new.

Replacing the original carpet and drivers seat cover would bring the factory interior to near perfection.

I still can't believe we all squeezed in here. The back seat is excellent and was seldom used.

The steering wheel wrap has always been there. It is my sincere belief that the wheel is in great shape under it but I can't be positive. The horn pad and ring are mint.

Even as a GM guy, I have always loved the dashboards and instrument lights on the 68 and 69 Torino/Fairlanes.

This photo says a lot. The rubber plug and paintless area around it are where the bodies were mounted to the machines and carried down the factory assembly line. These areas are very prone to rust regardless of the climate the car has lived in. The entire trunk area on this Torino is amazing. The following photos will support that claim.

They are never found like this.

The factory tar paper insulation is in excellent shape. Again, these things simply didn't stand the test of time. The trunk is gorgeous.

The original grille is in exceptional condition with one very small hair-line crack near the right headlight.

Just a boring 302-2V that runs incredibly strong. No ticks or noises of any kind. The engine really is top-notch. A tune-up was done, radiator and hoses replaced, new battery, new tires, etc... I did NOT go through everything. It was my intention to get her driveable and generally safe. Mission accomplished. Brakes and suspension feel okay but based on age I would assume some attention will be needed. The 3 speed manual transmission shifts flawlessly and glides through the gears like butter with a smooth clutch. Please note: Undoubtedly, I will get at least one question asking if she can be driven across the planet. Short answer, NO. Again for the hard of hearing, NO. She is running and driving fine but a comprehensive check out and service would be required before a long drive. The car is tight and sound but has been sitting a very long time.

Undersides we pray to find! Absolutely no rust or corrosion.

I haven't noticed any large fluid puddles on my garage floor and I wouldn't call her a leaker, but from the bottom of the engine there is seepage. A safe assumption would be the rear main seal.

The exhaust is old but basically doing it's job. She is pretty quiet.

The original 8 inch rear end with 3:00 gearing is very worn and noisy. Correct replacement components are included. Easy repair.

Backsides of quarter panels are excellent.

I have spoken with a couple of Ford and Mercury "Guru's" about the rarity of the car. When all factors are considered regarding color, trim options, drive-train, etc, I have been assured that she is a one-of-one.

I'm hoping that my attachment and appreciation for this car are obvious and that your own impression is fully formed by this point. Such a unique car with long-time ownership history. I will miss her. Thanks again-

Terms of Sale: 45yr old vehicle being sold AS-IS:

Please read and agree with the following:

I have described my Torino honestly and to the best of my ability based on over 25 years of owning and driving classic cars. I have faith in the drivability of my car per my written description provided above. I have driven her locally on a few occasions since getting her up and running again but she is 45 years old so routine service and repairs should be expected based on her age and length of time she sat dormant. If you are not comfortable with a sight-unseen purchase, please come see the car for yourself or have an independent inspection performed  PRIOR to bidding, NOT after. I will not be responsible for the decisions of others. Free and clear Oregon Certificate Of Title will be provided. I would appreciate the winning bidder contacting me immediately upon end of auction just so the lines of communication are opened. My telephone number is 503-575-0404

PAYMENT TERMS

A $1000.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction ending preferably through PayPal just so we are both protected. Wire transfers and verifiable cashier checks are also acceptable. I'm an easy going person so if you need to make special financial arrangements please contact me BEFORE you bid and I'll try to help. I have been with the same bank here in Portland Oregon for over 10 years and the Management staff knows me. You are welcome to contact them for your own security if you like. *The remaining balance in-full is due within 7 calendar days of auction end in the form of secure funds.* Some banks and credit unions do not finance vehicles of this vintage. Make sure if you are financing that your financial institution accepts the year and value of this vehicle before bidding and that my payment time-lines can be met. Please have your method of payment arranged prior to auction ending.

TRANSPORT - SHIPPING

I am happy to be an active and hands-on part of this entire process from start to finish but the buyer is ultimately responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle and any pre-purchase inspections need to be done BEFORE auction ending. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, I will gladly assist in loading and be present for the transport condition form and other reasonable help. Locating a transporter is the buyers responsibility but I can make recommendations and share the relationships I've built. Vehicle transport has become very reasonable. I personally use a privately dispatched trucking company. They have handled my transport needs perfectly for the last several years with careful handling, excellent rates and fast service even all the way to the East Coast. I will provide contact info at your request. Dependable Auto Shippers (D.A.S.) is a transporter that eBay recommends and my experiences with them before I started using only private carriers were just fine. My location zip code is 97214. Coast-to-Coast transport is around $1200.00 and even less the closer you are to Oregon. Shipping to Australia, Europe and other Countries has also become affordable and easy to arrange.

*If you are outside of the United States or Canada, you MUST contact me to confirm your bidding activity as authentic. If you are an eBay member with negative history or have a (0) or even a low transaction score, I need to hear from you just to verify your sincerity and accept your bids as genuine. We all started from (0) and I'm happy to give a leg up. I reserve the right to cancel bids at any point for these reasons. Email or phone contact is fine. Communication is all I ask.

I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if the vehicle is no longer available or otherwise SOLD.
