 This one-owner 2003 Ford Expedition was purchased in 2003 and was used as a fully marked police car. It was assigned to be used by our Shift Sergeants, and has 74,476 miles. The engine hours are not available on this vehicle. The Bartlett Police Department adheres to a strict maintenance program, which includes oil changes every 5,000 miles and compliance with all manufacturer maintenance at suggested intervals. The new owner can be provided with the vehicle's service and maintenance history.

This vehicle is in good condition and runs well.

The vehicle up for auction has been inspected. The steering binds and is very stiff. The steering shaft coupler needs to be replaced. The left outer tie rod end needs replacement. The brake disks are rusty from lack of use. The front and rear window wiper blades need to be replaced. A front end alignment is recommended. The 4-wheel drive system does not work. This is a variable wheel drive vehicle. There is a switch on the dashboard that allows the driver to place the vehicle in 2-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, 4-wheel drive high, 4-wheel drive low (see photo). The spotlight does not work.

All external mounting holes were plugged with rubber plugs and sealed. All electronic components were returned to their original configuration. The vehicle still has an ignition over-ride switch, which allows the vehicle's key to be removed from the ignition while the engine is left running (see photo). All police markings were removed and the paint is in fair condition. The body is in very good shape. The only rust is surface rust on the floor pan on the driver’s door side (see photo). Vehicle has keyless entry.

The interior is in good condition. The front seats are in very good condition. The rear vinyl seats are excellent. The headliner has a few holes. This vehicle does not come with third row seats.  Because of equipment mounting, there are small holes in the floorboard in the open area behind the back seats and holes in the plastic rear pillar posts. There is rubber flooring instead of carpeting inside the vehicle. This vehicle has adjustable gas and brake pedals (see photo).

The vehicle title will be provided to the new owner upon payment.  

If vehicle is to be driven from seller’s location, Illinois law requires the new owner to have current registration and insurance on the vehicle. A temporary registration permit can be obtained from any Illinois Secretary of State office. 

This vehicle is sold "as-is" and there is no warranty.

Consideration of Bid.  Village of Bartlett reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to withdraw from sale any of the Personal Property listed.

Buyer’s Certificate.  Successful bidders will receive a notice by email from e-bay (the “Notice”).

Payment.   Payment in full is due not later than five (5) business days from the time and date of the Notice.  Acceptable forms of payment are:

• Cash (U.S. currency)
• Certified Check (Non-cancelable, with Letter of Certified Funds from bank)
• Money Order
• Cashiers Check

Checks shall be made payable to Village of Bartlett.  Payments shall be made at the location indicated by the Village.

Removal.   All items must be removed within ten (10) business days from the time and date of issuance of the Notice.  Purchases will be released only upon receipt of payment as specified above.  Successful bidders are responsible for removal of any and all property awarded to them from the place where the property is located as indicated on the website.  The Buyer will make all arrangements and perform all work necessary, for removal of the property.  Under no circumstances will the Village of Bartlett assume responsibility for delivery.  Property may be removed between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding legal holidays by prior appointment only.  Please contact Michael McGuigan: 630-837-0846 office, 630-837-0805 fax, or e-mail:  mmcguigan@vbartlett.org, regarding scheduling payment for and pick up of Personal Property.

Vehicles of Titles.   Seller will issue a title or certificate upon receipt of payment.  Titles may be subject to any restrictions as indicated in the item description on the website.  Open titles cannot be issued.  The Village of Bartlett will not issue replacement titles.

Default.   Default by Buyer shall include (1) failure by Buyer to observe these terms and conditions; (2) failure to make good and timely payment; or (3) failure to remove all items within the specified time.  If the Buyer fails in the performance of any obligation hereunder, as provided herein, Seller may terminate this Agreement and shall be entitled to all rights and remedies as are provided by law and/or equity, including attorney’s fees and court costs.  Seller reserves the right to reclaim and resell all items not removed by Buyer upon the expiration of the specified removal date.

State/Local Sales and/or Use Tax.  Buyers may be subject to payment of State and/or local sales and/or use tax.  Buyers are responsible for contacting the appropriate tax office, completing any forms, and paying any taxes that may be imposed.

Deposit of five hundred dollars must be paid within seven days of the close of the auction. The payment must be either cashier's check or money order paid to "The Village of Bartlett".
