Since before the invention of the automobile there have been custom coach builders . If you had the money and could dream it, they could build it. Often, the large auto manufacturers would employ these extremely talented craftsmen to assist in construction of specially bodied vehicles. Prototypes, "Dream"or "Show" cars are some examples. So are Limousines, Emergency Vehicles, Hearses, Flower Cars, Convertibles, etc. Once in a while somebody with "More money than sense" would contract craftsmen to modify a brand new car into a shape which has no  function other than to display conspicuous consumption. The car you are now examining left General Motors in 1983 on a rail car and was shipped to Grandeur Motor Coach in Fla. where it was promptly sawed into 3 pieces. The rear doors and seat were removed. The entire cowl, front doors, windshield, dash, steering wheel, and front seat were moved back. (This feat alone was no easy task). Then a custom extended fiberglass front clip including faux side mount wheel houses was constructed and installed. You could not duplicate this rare beauty today for the selling price - ask your favorite auto body repairman. This particular example retains its stock wheelbase and suspension. It is not a "Kit" car - it drives "Like A Cadillac!"  Delivered new by Johnson Cadillac-Augusta, Ga. with full factory warranty. I remember first seeing it on the showroom floor in 1984 - WOW! - fifteen years later it was mine.  This ain't your Daddy's Oldsmobile! If you are shy and don't like to talk to strangers, this car may not be for you. This car exudes personality. Everybody wants to give you their opinion. They will tell you about the one their uncle's friend used to have - except theirs was a 4 door. This car draws more attention than any other vehicle I have ever driven. To me it is fun. An investment you can have fun with.     If you see something you really like, haven't seen another, and actually have the cash to buy what you want, NOW is the time to buy.
I have been "Car Crazy" all my life, have attended many car shows and auctions both public and private, and have seen very few quality examples of this highly modified custom 2 Seater Opera Coupe. I have consulted with leading experts, including respected journalists, and no one seems to have the facts on exactly how many of these very unusual, very expensive custom bodied masterpieces were actually made. In fact, I challenge anyone in cyberspace to certify the actual production numbers. In 1969 Chevrolet, through a special program, produced 69 ZL-1 Camaros with an all aluminum big block engine. In 1965 Ford produced 680,989 Mustangs. The point is that this example of automotive art is extremely rare. Sellers are often very liberal with the words "Mint" and "Showroom Condition". This car is neither, but considering it's age and mileage (less than 3K per year) it is in very good condition both cosmetically and mechanically and is priced accordingly. It has been mostly in a garage since 1984 and has been regularly and professionally serviced. It  is considered better than average. You could drive it across the country right now. What an adventure - fly in - drive home. This cool car would make a nice addition to any collection. I truly feel that this vehicle has reached the bottom of it's depreciating in value, and provided it is properly maintained, could appreciate in value from now on.
