The 1966 24 Hours of Lemans was the 34th Grand Prix of Endurance and took place in June 1966. For the first time in history, an American car had won LeMans. Drivers Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon had taken the win for the Shelby-American Race Team and Ford had finished the race in first, second and third place This amazing 1966 Ford GT40 MKIIA for sale is a tribute to this special moment in racing history.Exotic Classics takes great pride in offering this extraordinary 1966 Ford GT40 MKIIA Tribute. This truly special car was four years in development, research and build. This is an authentic GT40 MKIIA, utilizing available original parts, drawings and body panels taken from the original molds. This GT40 MKIIA was built under license and approval of Carroll Shelby and Shelby American. Some of the many highlights of this car include a Shelby 427FE aluminum block built by Ernie Elliot Engineering, Wilwood brake system, ZF 5-speed w/ lockout reverse, period correct adjustable suspension, period correct Hallibrand knock-off wheels with Avon tires, period correct twin trunks built from original drawings, period correct see thru rear center scoop with correct fasteners, period correct front scoop splitter built from original drawings with correct fasteners, code correct Gulf livery with period correct decals, many parts from original LeMans Cars and many parts specially built from original drawings. Many pictures of the build are included.This car was inspected by Dr. Fred Simeone, founder of the Simeone Museum who owns one of the six GT40 MKIIA’s built for LeMans in 1966. At a recent “Sunday in the Park” Concours at Lime Rock Park, he inspected the car and commented, “This car is perfect in every way.” Show results thus far include 1st in class at the 2013 Greenwich Concours, People’s Choice Award at the 2013 Darien Collectors Car Show, 1st in class at the 2013 Milford Oyster Festival and 1st in class at the 2013 Guilford Car Show.The next owner will be proud to own and show this unbelievable automobile.

Shipping and Delivery: All shipping charges are the "Buyer's" responsibility. We will help with shipping arrangements but will not be responsible in any way for claims arising from shipping damage! Licensed "Carriers" are generally insured for $3,000,000.00. We assume no responsibility for damages incurred after the vehicle leaves our showroom. All shipping arrangements provided by us are strictly a courtesy. We are not affiliated with any carrier. Any claims or other communication regarding shipment of vehicles will be between you and the "Carrier" and not with us. The amount of time it takes for delivery depends upon the "Carrier" selected. A typical experience is 7-14 days from the date the vehicle is picked up from our facility until it is delivered to your destination. Verify with the "Carrier" for an Estimated Time of Arrival to be sure.


Fee and Tax Information:

New York buyers will be charged sales tax and licensing and processed on your behalf. Out of state buyers (including other countries), we will send title and you will be responsible for registration and taxes in your own state or providence. 

A non-refundable deposit of $2,000 is due within 24 hours of the auction close. The remaining balance is due within 7 days of the close of auction, unless other arrangements were made. Accepted payment methods are bank wire transfers, cashier's checks and money orders. If you wish to obtain financing, please do so ahead of time. We also reserve the right to verify any or all bids to ensure exceptional auction integrity.
