This German military vehicle would make a great addition to a collection or can be used for farms, ranches, tours or some off-road fun! Unimog is a range of multipurpose auto four-wheel drive medium trucks produced by Mercedes-Benz. In 1955, the first Unimog 404 S series was produced. The primary customer of the 404 S was the Federal West German army, which was re-arming in the face of the Cold War. The 404 was intended to be a mobile cross-country truck, instead of an agricultural implement. The 404 S is the most popularly produced variant. Mercedes-Benz produced more than 64,000 between 1955 and 1980. One of the oldest 404s known to exist is the 1955 serial number 4, located in Orange County, Calif. This troop transporter has found its way into our showroom and is looking for some off-road adventures. After climbing into the cab, you will see the gauges are original, and the seats are black vinyl with some wear from usage but appear original. There is a C/B radio currently installed. The exterior is an Olive Drab, and the wood in the bed appears to have been replaced recently. The Unimog sits on four Swamp Master tires measuring 39.5X13.50-20LT. There is a factory-installed winch mounted to the front for pulling or recovery. The engine is a Mercedes-Benz six-cylinder OHSC engine that we will note runs on gasoline, not diesel. This engine is mated with an eight-speed manual transmission with low and high gear options, and despite its size this beast runs and drives well. Mileage on this Unimog currently reads 29,454, and the VIN is 404144025327. It is being sold on a clear Indiana title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!
