The Pontiac GTO set the stage for one of the greatest eras of the American car production. After General Motors put the halt on factory sponsored racing, the top engineers at Pontiac turned to street performance to keep hotrod branding moving forward. Using a sub-model loophole to get around engine size cap, which was supposed to limit the mid sized Tempest to 330 CI, the 1964 GTO debuted with 389 HP engine which produced 325 HP in base form.

This 1966 GTO is a PHS documented car that spend much of its life in the Southwest US, and is the subject of a 5 year old frame off rotisserie restoration. The car is a genuine Starlight Black over Red, 4-speed car which came equipped with the following options:

  • Pushbutton radio
  • Verba-Phonic Rear speaker
  • Inside tilt mirror
  • Outside remote control mirror
  • Glove box lamp
  • Ash tray and lighter lamp
  • Parking brake lamp
  • Seat belts
  • Rally Gauge Cluster and Tachometer
  • Console
  • Power Steering
  • Power Brakes
  • Custom 4-speed shift knob
  • Soft Ray Glass
  • Safe-t-track rear axle
  • 389 4bbl engine/335 HP/ WT code
  • 4-speed wide ratio transmission
  • 3.55 rear gears

The GTO is an AACA Junior winner and is a wonderful and reliable driver that can be used like regular car. Restoration components are comprised of stock components which contribute to easy start up, cool running natural, smooth ride and smooth handling. With the combination of power steering and power brakes, the car is quite easy to drive and maneuver and the 389 engine provides brisk acceleration. Although the GTO originally came with a 335 HP 389, the current motor is from a 1964 GTO. All drivetrain components have been rebuilt and offer up and all the get up and go you would expect from the great performance division at the late great Pontiac.

For enthusiast looking for a usable Muscle car that can be enjoyed at will, and not a static museum piece, this 1966 Pontiac GTO will make your day.
