1969 Mercury Cougar
VIN: 9F93H554107 --Eliminator Clone performance package --351W-CID V8 engine --FMX automatic transmission --Extensive restoration --New wheels and tires --California car The prancing cougar logo is iconic of all first generation Mercury Cougars, and MotoeXotica Classic cars proudly presents this sinister black on black 1969 Mercury Cougar. The Cougar was Mercury’s muscle car, but it also found a way to keep its luxurious side — a plush pony car as some would call it. The introduction of the Cougar in 1967 drastically increased Lincoln-Mercury’s sales numbers and was named Motor Trend’s Car of the Year in ’67. The third year of production, 1969, brought several new additions to the Cougar lineup. On the exterior, the grille switched from vertical bars to horizontal bars, and a spoiler and a Ram Air induction hood scoop were added as options. The Eliminator performance package appeared for the first time. A 351-CID four-barrel V8 was standard under the hood. The Eliminator was the new top-of-the-line performance model of the Cougar lineup. It also featured a blacked-out grille, special side stripes, front and rear spoilers and a more performance-tuned suspension and handling package. We have recently acquired this stunning but so sinsister 1969 Mercury Cougar. The car was delivered new in Southern California with the following options, 351W V8, high back bucket seats, console, power steering, power disc brakes, air conditioning, tinted glass, FMX automatic transmission and 9" rear end. The car has just undergone an extensive 2 restoration. The car retains all of its original sheet metal and has been refinished with a base coat clear coat Ford Black with custom red Eliminator stripes. To complete the cosmetic Eliminator look, the car has front and rear spoilers, blacked out front and rear grill, an original Eliminator hood scoop and correct style hood pins. All chrome, trim and weatherstripping redone. Finished in Black, the paint is in great shape overall. The black paint is complimented with “Eliminator” vinyl stripes — stripes down the side, up the center of the hood, black cowl and Eliminator graphics on the rear of each rear quarter panel. The body is straight and solid. There is also a black spoiler on the trunk deck that looks great. The chrome is in great shape, showing only minor imperfections. The car has front and rear spoilers to complete the cosmetic Eliminator look along with front and rear spoilers, original Eliminator hood scoop, hide-away headlights and correct hood pins. The chrome has been redone and looks amazing. The entire drivetrain was pulled for restoration and the suspension was completely rebuilt. The car sits in a lowered stance that makes the car handle and ride very well. The car sits on new American Racing wheels wrapped in four Nexen Radial N3000 tires measuring 215/50ZR17. The previous owner said the wheels have only about 50 miles on them. The interior is impeccable, as the black vinyl seats and dashboard show no tears or wear. The interior was removed during paint, new headliner, carpet and seat covers. All parts repainted or re-dyed or replaced as needed. Full Alpine sound system installed to look as factory as possible. Under the hood, the 351-CID 290 HP Windsor V8 engine gives this Cougar some roar and bite. The 351W now sports some mild modifications, the FMX has a shift kit and the 9" differential is now a 3.50 trac lok. Fully detailed engine bay. The following were all removed for complete rebuild, refurbishment or replacement. Complete air conditioning, heat, cooling, braking system, electrical and vacuum system, gas tank, all soft and hard lines. This Cougar runs and drives extremely strong, and it looks stunning to boot. Take your opportunity to capture this Cougar for your collection! Mileage currently reads 32,495, VIN is 9F93H554107, and it is being sold on a clear title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!
