Indicative of how much "we've changed" was the 1971 Heavy Chevy Chevelle, a midyear offering that combined some of the Super Sport image with a portion of its price tag. Not only that, but was also not nearly as noticeable to the insurance crowd. All V8s except the LS5 were available under the Heavy Chevy's domed hood as well as other SS heavy-duty hardware, although piling up the options on these Chevelle' would have defeated its budget minded purpose. The Heavy Chevy option code YF3 was available only in 1971 and 1972 and only on 13,437 Chevelle's .The Heavy Chevy package were only produced for 6 months and in 1971 the Heavy Chevy Code YF3 package was only on 6,727 Chevelle's, making the 1971 Heavy Chevy code Chevelle's the lowest production number Chevelle's across the board including SS models.

This 1971 Heavy Chevy Chevelle started out life as a Nevada Silver with Blue interior 307 C.I. V8 car. Built in the Leeds Plant in Kansas City Mo. And then shipped to Davis Chevrolet in Bismarck North Dakota to be sold. This car has service and parts records dating back to 1998 and then the bulk of them dated 2007 when this Heavy Chevy Chevelle received a very professional restoration and a new lease on life as a Black on Black Heavy Chevy Chevelle with a major engine upgrade to a Pace performance Black Finish ZZ4 turn key engine that produces 355 H.P. and weighs 300 lbs less than a 454 LS5 giving it a H.P. to weight advantage.
