You are viewing a privately owned 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible!
Classic Cars Online is helping the estate/family of the owner that has passed away.
You will be purchasing this beautiful vehicle directly from his estate.
The owner purchased this vehicle in August of 1992. (Over 21 years ago.) At that time the vehicle had 56,763 miles on it. Currently it is showing 60,658 miles. It is our understanding that these are the actual and original miles to this vehicle. The owner was very meticulous and detailed oriented. His passion shows throughout the vehicle and his paperwork. Example: He would only replace items on the vehicle with parts having the correct factory numbers for the '64 Galaxie.

Body & Paint:

The body was just professionally restored and freshly painted in its original factory color. (Wimbledon White – "M" Code - M1619) The total cost of this refinishing was $14,493 and was completed in May 2013. All of the body/paint work was done correctly and it shows very well. Any rust repair was done correctly with cutting and removing the weak areas and then welding metal patches into places. (See Restoration photos for details.) The body panel alignment and fit is great. The vehicle was dismantled and the trim moldings/hardware was removed. The vehicle was then stripped down to bare metal, repaired, and then prep for primer and paint. (Original paint was cracking.) There are some nice photos showing the body work process and receipts of the work that was done. The car is also fitted with a set of rear fender shirts giving it a lower and more elegant look. New weather stripping was installed on the entire vehicle after it was painted.

Chrome & Trim:

All of the trim parts on this vehicle are original 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 parts. The trim is free of any dents, dings or scratches. From the receipts, it looks like some of the trim parts were polished, buffed or re-chromed. All of the stainless steel trim moldings are in excellent condition. The aluminum front grill looks almost new without any stone nicks or dings. The headlight bezels along with the taillight bezels are also great. The chrome items such as the bumpers, door handles, mirror and trim pieces all look great without any pitting, fading or haziness. The front and rear chrome bumpers are fitting with the optional chrome/rubber bumper guards.

Convertible Top:

The black convertible top is in excellent condition without any rips, holes, or marks. It is powered and is in good working condition without any leaks or other problems with the hydraulic pump or hydraulic cylinders. The glass rear window is excellent. There is a convertible boot cover that snaps onto the vehicle when the convertible top is down which is also in great shape.

Interior:

The interior is still original. (Original to this vehicle and/or original to another 1964 Galaxie at one time.) The owner wanted to keep the interior original looking so if something needed replacing, he swapped it with another original 1964 Galaxie item. Overall, the interior is in very nice condition and is free of any rips, tears, holes, etc. The factory trim code is "76" which stands for "Black Vinyl Bench Seat". A set of aftermarket gauges and tachometer was added, but could be easily removed if someone doesn't like the look. The interior includes the original AM/FM radio which was refurbished and working along with the factory clock. As far as we know, everything else is also in working condition. (Lights, Wipes, Horns, Speedometer/Odometer, Heater and Gauges.)

Engine Compartment:

Under the hood sits the original stock ("X" code) 352 cu. in. V8 engine. It was professionally rebuilt. It was then painted and detailed to keep the factory appearance. The engine work was completed in 2008 and 2009. (See photos with the detailed repair list.) The engine runs very smoothly and strong. It doesn't smoke, leak, or tick. Bolted to this power plant is a 4-Speed manual transmission. The vehicle originally had an automatic transmission but the owner swapped it out for this more desirable 4-speed. This wide ratio 4-speed manual transmission was also rebuilt and is working like it should. Unsure, but believe the transmission is a Borg Warner T10. Controlling this manual transmission is a chrome Hurst floor shifter that looks period correct for this car. A new Center Force clutch assembly was also install at the same time the transmission was. The rear differential is a 3.55 non-posi.

Glass:

All of the glass is in very nice condition without any cracks, chips or scratches. The windows roll up and down without any problems. It looks to be factory tinted glass. The rear window in the convertible top is also glass and in great shape.

Wheels & Tires:

The factory steel rims were just restored and painted. Mounted on these rims are four new radial whitewall Hankook Optimo H724 tires. The width of the whitewalls look to be period correct for this vehicle. A very nice set of original stock Galaxie spoke spinner hubcaps finish off this wheel combo. They are not dented/dinged up or scratched. Very nice look.

Trunk Compartment:

Trunk compartment was completely refinished to its original condition along with the body/paint work that was completed in 2013. It is show ready. The spare tire is new and matches the four other tires on the vehicle. The jack and jacking tools were also restored and are in excellent condition. Trunk also has new plaid liner/mat and new side panel boards.

Chassis - Frame & Undercarriage:

The undercarriage is clean. The frame is solid along with the floor pans. According to the receipts, here is what was done. A new dual exhaust system w/hangers along with two new mufflers were installed in 2009. The four shocks were replaced in 2002. In 2001 the following work was completed: Removed old wheel cylinders & shoes & installed new; Removed old e-brake cables and installed better factory parts; Cleaned axle hubs and bearings; Packed wheel bearings with new grease; Installed 4 drums; Adjusted 4 brakes; Replaced all brake lines; Installed new fuel lines; Changed brake pedal pad; Mounted rebuilt vacuum booster and master cylinder. Keep in mind that the vehicle was driven very little since any of this work was done.

Restoration Information:

During the past 21 plus years of ownership, the owner has invested over $35,107 to restore the vehicle with original 1964 Ford Galaxie parts and factory paint. This eBay auction's reserve price is only a fraction of that amount which was invested into this vehicle. Priced to sell. The most recent restoration work was on the body and exterior paint that was completed in May 2013. Complete rebuilding of the engine – major work completed in 2008 and 2009. (Very few miles since the rebuild.) This was a labor of love for the owner and a 21 year journey to completely restoring this vehicle. See the photos of the detailed receipt spreadsheet listing most of the work that has been done during this restoration. (Receipts of work are available.)

TERMS OF SALE

Please read all of the terms before bidding.

Our goal at Classic Cars Online, LLC. is to broker positive transactions between buyers and owners. We help with listing and presenting vehicles on eBay for the owners. We are not in possession and we have not inspected this vehicle. The owner provides us the information and photos for the eBay auction and has stated the representations are true to the best of his/her knowledge.
We also have a "Risk Free" 7 day inspection period AFTER the auction for the winner bidder.
(See below for details.)
1) The owner provides and is responsible for any and all representations within this auction and not Classic Cars Online, LLC. The owner states that the presentations are honest and accurate to the best of his/her knowledge and assumes all legal responsibilities for the vehicle and representations.
2) At the conclusion of the auction and upon reception of a Five percent (5%) deposit, Classic Cars Online, LLC. will place the winning bidder in touch with the owner to arrange for inspection or transportation. Classic Cars Online will accept the deposit on behalf of the owner. This deposit is due within 3 days of auction closing. The deposit can be paid with a Certified Bank Check.
3) An Inspection of the vehicle is Highly Recommended and must be done within 7 days of auction closing. The remaining balance, is due to the owner at inspection/acceptance. *If inspection is not completed within 7 days, or buyer waves his choice to inspect the vehicle, the deposit is nonrefundable and the deal is finalized. The inspection can be done by the buyer personally or a third party inspector that the buyer hires.
4) Full payment is due within 7 days of auction closing. You are not purchasing a new car that is claimed to be flawless. Instead, you are purchasing a vehicle that is old and expected to have normal wear and tear from age. The vehicle is sold "as is" where is without any warranty implied or expressed. All sales are final once inspected or paid in full.
5) If the vehicle was found to be materially misrepresented at the inspection, your deposit is refundable and you are not liable for the purchase but this must be determined within the allotted seven (7) day inspection period. Regardless of our commitment to describe vehicles in as much detail as possible there will be imperfections. Failing to mention for example an item such as a small paint imperfection, a minor non-safety related item such as a switch etc, does not constitute refusal of the vehicle by the buyer. We require you to put in writing via email or fax the material misrepresentations in order to receive a refund of your deposit. Taking a few photos of the misrepresented area for us to see, will help point out and confirm your concerns. "Changed my Mind" is not a valid excuse for your deposit to be refunded.
6) Bidding on this auction demonstrates your acceptance to indemnify and hold harmless Classic Cars Online, LLC. from any liability resulting from this transaction, including any reasonable attorney fees.
7) PLEASE DO NOT bid unless you have full intentions of purchasing at your bid price. Your bid is a legally binding contract as eBay clearly states. We reserve the right to end the auction early. We also reserve the right to verify any or all bids to ensure excellent auction integrity. Please do not ask the sellers reserve price as we will not disclose this information.
8) WE DO NOT accept bid retractions. If you bid and retract you will be added to our blocked bidder list and future bids will NOT be accepted. eBay allows for you to triple check You're bid before finally entering the bid. Our integrity is impeccable as our feedback shows and we demand the same from our bidders.
9) Bidder/Buyer is responsible for all the shipping costs, insurance, title work, and must be 18 years of age or older.

Remember, whether you are buying a car/truck from eBay, Hemmings or Collector Car Trader, you will inevitably want to go and inspect the vehicle. Our system is better than most as you can actually see several photos of the vehicle and enjoy a much more lengthy description, and then have a chance to inspect the vehicle after the auction. ss
