This car was purchased new in 1991 at the then Mercedes Benz Dealership here in Grants Pass, Jim Sigel, for the wife of a soon to be retiring business man in town who managed to put 31,000 miles on it in 20 years. We sold the car for him about two years ago to another retired couple who put about 6000 miles on it before deciding to head south once again. We have the car once more with 37,117 miles showing. It has been serviced and a Kenwood Receiver installed (the stock Radio is included). Both owners kept the car in climate controlled garages and it shows by the lack of wear or sun damage to the finish. Mechanically the car is excellent. The Air blows cold, the amazing hardtop, soft top, roll bar mechanism have to be watched to be appreciated, the V-8 engine is glass smooth as are the brakes and transmission. There is nothing that I have found that is not working exactly as it should except the interior light does not come on when the driver’s door is opened. It is wonderful. There are minor issues on the paint from being driven and used, but it has not had damage or repair work to the body. The rear tires are brand new, with less then 20 miles on them. It is an 8 out of 10, 10 being new.

When this car was sold new for $94,000, it was state of the art and I remember that is was the car to have. Not only is this a SL convertible, it is the 5.0 liter, dual overhead camshaft, four valve per cylinder, 322 horsepower version. For the dramatically reduced selling prices of today, it serves as a reminder about buying new expensive cars. Better to stay in the stock market.
