1975 marked the year that Porsche took its turbo charged program from the race track and integrated into its street production cars offered to the public. The car was introduced as the 930 and its noticeably more bodacious body lines combined with the extra kick of the turbo charged system, the 930 forced its self on the world stage as an instant exotic and later, with some improvements and the “Flachbau” or slant-nose, would be held in the highest realm of the supercars of the 80's. The “Flachbau” caught its cues from the legendary 935 race cars that dominated the endurance racing world and also brought Porsche to victory in the FIA World Championship for Makes each year from 1976 to 1979. The “Flachbau” could only be ordered through Porsche's Special Wish program and with the nose of each car hand crafted the cars commanded a hefty premium and factory examples were and are very sparse. Demand was such that the slant or 935 look spawned companies such as DP and American International Racing to take their conversions originally designed for the racing circuit and offer them as conversions to Porsche's 911 and 930 production car lines.

We are pleased to offer this well documented fully serviced 1981 Porsche 930 Turbo American International Racing (A.I.R.) conversion. American International Racing was and still is one of the leading aftermarket body panel manufacturer for Porsche conversions and Porsche Race cars. History indicates that the A.I.R conversion was done performed in the early 80's with much attention to detail. The front spoiler, the cooling cut outs, the front fenders, the rear spoiler and the side sport mirrors are all derived from the 934 and 935 racing legends. The car also features Recaro Racing Seats, newer BBS Wheels and new tires (255/40/17 rear, 205/40/17's). Vehicle was purchased in June of 1987 and held in a private collection for the next 26 years with very little use. In the fall of 2011, the car went through a major engine out service addressing everything needed for a car that had been sitting for 20 plus years. Complete service on the fuel system including the tank, new oil return tubes, complete engine out reseal, new chain tensioners, new pop off valve, rebuilt turbo, and general freshening. (See Service Receipt in photo's.) The car has since been driven 725 miles and this 31218 mile example remains mechanically fit, possess plenty of power, smooth shifting and true braking. Cosmetically, the car remains excellent as it was stored in a climate controlled environment since its purchase in 1987. Air cooled 911's have taken the globe by storm in recent years and continue to be highly sought after, A three owner, low mile, period modified example such as this will continue to be a proven investment. ·       The winning bidder must contact GR Auto Gallery within 24 hours by phone(616-855-6600) or E- mail(sales@grautogallery.com) to start transaction and to receive a Purchase Order via Fax or E-mail.

·       The winning bidder must respond within 2 days after the auction with a $1,000 deposit required via wire transfer, or certified funds(cashier's check) to start the transaction. The buyer has 6 days to do his/her inspections and due diligence. After the 6 days following the closing day of the auction, if the buyer has not completed his/her inspections and due diligence, it will be understood that the vehicle will be taken as an "As Is" without the inspection by the buyer. If the above items are not met within the allotted time frame, the vehicle may and will be available to all other buyers on a first come first serve basis. In a nutshell, the deal must be consummated within 6 days from the closing day of the auction. Please notify us for any exceptions.

·       All sales are subject to $195 documentary fee.

·       Michigan residents pay 6% sales tax, registration fee of $15. Out-of-state customers may pay tax and register the vehicle in their own applicable state. Upon request, we can also complete the buyers home state registration.

·       The buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. We will arrange for shipping, if requested. Also, the transportation to and from the airport and our location is buyer's responsibility.

·       Most of our vehicles are Frontline, Off-lease, or Trade-in vehicles from Upscale Franchise Dealerships (Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Jaguar, Porsche, Land Rover, Bentley, Ferrari, Lexus, etc...). In translation, most of the vehicles we auction are individual-owned cars before becoming trade-ins or lease turn-ins.

·       GR Auto Gallery makes every attempt to deliver our vehicles to our clients with two keys, key fobs, manuals, booklets, NAV CDs, wheel locks, tool kits, etc..., however, from time-to-time, a vehicle may be missing one or more of these items and we cannot guarantee that they will be included in the vehicle at the time of sale. Please call for the exact accessories included for the vehicle.

·       The vehicles in the auction are pre-owned vehicles and they are sold as "As Is" condition. However, most vehicles may still be in factory warranty or an extended warranty may be purchased. Ask for details.

·       For Canadian car buyers: If the title is to be released at the time of delivery (which is pretty much mandatory to get your vehicle thru customs), wire transfer is your quickest way to handle this transaction. If the payment is not a bank wire transfer, i.e., certified bank check or approved loan check, the title will only be released when all funds have cleared. Please keep in mind that the funds verification process can take up to 15 days. We will assist buyers with whatever documents you will need to clear Canadian customs, but knowing exactly which documents are required by your home province are the buyers responsibility.
