The Viper was initially conceived in late 1988 at Chrysler's Advanced Design Studios. The following February, Chrysler president Bob Lutz suggested to Tom Gale at Chrysler Design that the company should consider producing a modern Cobra, and a clay model was presented to Lutz a few months later. Produced in sheet metal by Metalcrafters, the car appeared as a concept at the North American International Auto Show in 1989. Public reaction was so enthusiastic that chief engineer Roy Sjoberg was directed to develop it as a standard production vehicle.

Sjoberg selected 85 engineers to be "Team Viper," with development beginning in March 1989. The team asked the then-Chrysler subsidiary Lamborghini to cast a prototype aluminum block based on Dodge's V10 truck engine for sports car use in May. The production body was completed in the fall, with a chassis prototype running in December. Though a V8 engine was first used in the test mule, the V10, which the production car was meant to use, was ready in February 1990.

Official approval from Chrysler chairman Lee Iacocca came in May 1990. One year later, Carroll Shelby piloted a pre-production car as the pace vehicle in the Indianapolis 500 race. In November 1991, the car was released to reviewers with first retail shipments beginning in January 1992.

MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this original, one owner, low mileage 2006 Dodge Viper you see pictured – it only has a little over 19,000 miles on the odometer! 2006 was the last year of the third generation of Viper and just like other SRT-10 Vipers; it is easily recognizable with its sharp, angled bodywork. This particular American supercar is a one owner car and only 1 of 752 total Viper convertibles built for the 2006 model year.

Finished in Viper Black (paint code PX3), there were only a few true, Triple Black Vipers made, making this car sought after and looks extra sinister! The paint is in great shape, with the exception of the front valence; there are scuffs to the right front, a small crack down the middle and scuffs on the left front. The valence can be repaired but currently has the flaws mentioned. The black canvas convertible top is in great condition, showing no signs of wear or staining. This is a beautiful example of the meticulous craftsmanship that went into the production of the Viper!

Inside, you will find that the interior is finished in two tone black, complete with suede inserts. The seats are in great condition, as is the carpet, headliner and door panels. The Viper is equipped with every power option imaginable, including an AM/FM stereo, complete with a 6-disc in-dash CD player and Alpine speakers. You will ride in comfort as you turn every head when you drive by!

The Viper is equipped with the monstrous SRT-10, 8.3L V10 engine, capable of producing up to 500 horsepower and 525 pounds of torque! Attached to the engine is a 6-speed manual transmission, which puts control of all of the power directly in your right hand and under your left foot! The car sits upon staggered chrome wheels, which look aggressive and sexy! The 18”x10” forged aluminum Viper wheels in front are wrapped in new P275/35ZR18 tires and the 19”x13” rear forged aluminum Viper wheels are wrapped in HUGE P345/30ZR19 new tires. The current owner recently bought all brand new tires at an expense of $2,800! The Viper sits menacingly and is sure to strike up a conversation anywhere it goes.

This Viper would be an excellent car for any Mopar connoisseur or collector. The VIN is 1B3JZ65Z16V101601 and the mileage currently shows 19,250. It is being sold on a clean and clear Missouri title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
