The 2012 Infiniti QX56 is the updated version of the large Infiniti which vastly differentiates itself from the 2010 models.  With a 400 horsepower V8 and a seven speed automatic transmission you'll find that the QX56 is very capable as a grocery getter, kid hauler, amongst many other things.

Interior

Not much inside the cabin gives the impression that the Infiniti is build on a trucklike chassis that is more than capable of towing over 8,000 lbs.  You'll find rich materials throughout the cabin, which is laid out with classiness befitting of Infiniti Sedans.  The steering wheel, dashboard and center console integrate the luxurious Burl Wood Trim that looks incredibly luxurious and plush!

Step inside the QX and you'll find that this vehicle easily has room for seven people.  I'd have no problem being driven around in this gorgeous vehicle as these rear captains chairs are as comfortable as a Lazboy.  Getting in and out of the QX really isn't much of a problem as you have standard running boards to assist you with the process.

A huge huge plus is the third row seat is definitely one of the easiest to access in any SUV we've had here.  In one motion, the second row captain's chairs roll forward and are immediately out of the way.  Once seated, you'll find that you have good headroom and legroom considering that I'm nearly 6 foot tall. 

On the outside

With rounded edges of the vehicle, you'll find that this has a very unique look to the Large SUV Segment.  It's a car that is similar to our Porsche Panamera.  At first glance, it's incredibly large.  Second glance, and especially if you see the car in motion you'll see svelte and smart stying on the vehicle.  There really isn't anything else on the road that looks like the QX56!

Here was my biggest surprise!  For a large SUV, I found that the QX56 has very quick and agile handling.  It also has pretty impressive performance and torque available nearly all the time.  A 5.6 liter V8 makes 400 horsepower with 413 ft lbs of torque.  Combine that with the seven speed automatic transmission and the QX accelerates as briskly as a sports car or sedan of a decade ago.

Despite being built on framework of a truck, the QX's ride isn't trucklike at all.  It's very smooth and confident on the road, even with the massive 22" wheels you'll find that this QX really glides down the freeway.  If you compare this to any other large SUV on the market, this is the sportscar of the large SUV world.  It really handles beautifully and is a pleasure to drive!  This particular QX does have Hydraulic Body Motion Control which helps elimate body roll when turning in and just makes this feel like a great luxury sedan on the road!

What's the option?

We find that the technology package for nearly $3k makes the QX about as idiot proof as it gets.  You also get Infiniti's standard around view monitor which will give you a top down view of the vehicle which makes it very easy to maneuver this car into tight spaces.  The tech package adds the adaptive cruise control, a blind spot warning system, a lane departure warning system, braking assist and an adaptive lighting system for the vehicle. 
You'll also find some great standard equipment like heated seats, heated steering wheel, burl wood highlights, front and rear climate controls, a moonroof, a BOSE surround sound system and a great navigation system!

For the towing crowd, the QX's maximum towing capacity is 8,500 pounds with the all-wheel drive. A class IV trailer hitch and seven-pin wiring harness come standard, and a bumper fill plate hides the hitch's opening when you're not towing.
