2001 Ferrari 550 Maranello

We are privileged to present this absolutely beautiful 2001 Ferrari 550 Maranello. The 550 was Ferrari's return to the classic front-engine V12 layout, not seen since the 365 GTB/4 Daytona in the early Seventies. The V12 engine is an absolute masterpiece, producing 485 hp and 419 lb-ft of torque, with an almost completely flat torque band and that inimitable Ferrari V12 sound. A perfect 50/50 weight distribution creates a wonderful handling balance, which only gets better at speed. Finally, the 550 was the last Ferrari to have a 6-speed gated manual gearbox as the only transmission choice, before Ferrari started the inexorable transition to automated manuals.

This particular 550 is a wonderful example of this iconic car. In the beautiful colors of Tour de France Blue over Cuoio (natural) interior, this car is just stunning. It is a 2001 model, the last year for the 550, and benefits from the continuous minor upgrades made throughout the 550 lifespan. This is a highly-optioned car as well, featuring the desirable "Daytona" seats and the quilted full leather rear parcel shelf. 

Most importantly, a full service history since the car was new is available. The last major belt service was done in 2013, and all maintenance is up to date. The only aftermarket addition to the car is a Tubi exhaust system, which is almost a must-have on the 550; the Tubi really gives the V-12 an aggressive growl.

I have personally driven this car, and it is an extremely solid car. The V-12 engine is incredibly strong and keeps pulling like a freight train to redline. Steering is sharp and true, the handling is perfect, and the powerful brakes stop the car on a dime. There are no rattles or other untoward noises. All "sticky" parts in the interior have been refinished, and there is no shrinkage of the dash leather. All books and manuals, all three key fobs (1 red, 2 black), two original keys, and the original Ferrari car and seat covers are present.

Ferrari 550 prices have leveled off over the past few years, and are now starting to creep up for quality examples. The model now has the recognition of discriminating buyers, as a true grand tourer in the classic Ferrari tradition, and is widely seen as a very collectible Ferrari in future years.
