Earls Court Motor Show, 1961, the entire audience was in awe at the Jaguar Cars Ltd stand and the unveiling of the all new E-Type or XKE. The new sports car was so advanced and had performance that was unheard of for its time. Even Enzo Ferrari said “Perhaps one of the most beautiful cars in the world, too bad it doesn’t have a prancing horse on it”. The E-Type was capable of 150MPH and zero to 60MPH in less than 7 seconds. The E-Type continued on with three series, and three different engines. The 4.2 litre 6 cylinder engine most say is the best engine in the E-Type, the best set up and most reliable. Jaguar’s E-Type continued on to model year 1974 and many say has never been replaced since. It is possibly the quintessential sports car of all time and one of the most collected European sports cars. As the E-Type values continue to climb so does the desirability for one.

European Motor Studio is proud to offer this 1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II Coupe’. It is finished in Pale Primrose Yellow over Black leather and retains its original 4.2 litre twin cam straight 6 engine, 4 speed manual gearbox and factory air conditioning. This E-Type has come from a very long term California ownership and shows 81,296 miles which is believed to be completely correct. The car is completely original and in unrestored condition with the exception of one repaint in its original color. The original spare wire wheel is present, along with the jack and original Jaguar keys. All original black leather is still intact and in very nice shape with very light wear. The original wool headliner and sun visors are in outstanding condition, the original black wool carpets are in beautiful shape, the dashboard is all original and in excellent shape and free from any cracks or wear. The center console is all original and shows very nicely, iconic wood three spoke steering wheel is still intact and in very good shape and the correct factory shift knob is still on the car. The radio has been changed to a pioneer radio (possibly from the early 90’s). The rare factory AC is still intact and blows cool and the heater is blowing warm. All of the chrome on the car is completely original and shows very nicely with little pitting here and there. The correct factory chrome wire wheels are original to the car and do show some pitting and some flaking. The paint on the car shows well, there are some flaws, particularly in the door jams around the edges of the doors, rear hatch and windshield. The body of the car is in beautiful shape, completely free of any rust or corrosion. The body is straight and accident and damage free. There is one small dent under the nose of the car, (possibly from a speed bump). The straight 6 engine runs and drives extremely well, it starts right up and idles smoothly. The engine was rebuilt a few years ago and has recently had the carbs rebuilt and tuned. There is no smoking on start up or acceleration, the transmission feels solid and precise and free from any clunking or grinding. The clutch feels very solid, and free from any slippage. The brakes feel nice and solid and free from fade or squeaking. The steering and suspension all feel very solid and tight. Tires have about 80% tread life. All of the electronics are in working order including the dash lights, headlights, side marker lights, turn signals, tail lights, brake lights, reverse lights. All of the gauges appear to be working and reading correctly. If you are looking for an outstanding driver quality E-Type Coupe in a fabulous iconic British color this is it.
