This 1960 Chevy Bel Air for sale sat unused from 1981 until the fall of 2013. I have always admired the classic body lines on this iconic piece of American Automobile History. The design of the '59 & '60 Chevy Impala, Bel Air and Biscayne has always been in my personal list of top 5 car designs of all time.

The engine on this Bel Air turned over when the car was found sitting under a grove of oak trees. A simple adjustment of the points and switching two wires going to the distributor and a new battery and some fuel was enough to get the engine up and running again! Three new brake lines got the system to hold pressure enough to stop the car for now, so the car will run and drive. All tires hold air and the transmission shifts as it should. I wouldn't jump in this and drive anywhere except maybe up and down the driveway but it does run well enough to tootle around the farm. In fact with some babying of the carburator, 15 or so  careful miles have been added to the odometer since getting life breathed back into it last month.

The car would need new front floors at least to be a safe daily driver. The car would also need a mechanical inspection before taking it on the road. But it will drive on to a transport and stop under its own power. So that's helpful and that will save you money in transportation costs vs a car that doesn't run. One of the most exciting / interesting parts of the car is the vegetation that has grown on the body over the years. This car sat outside under some large oak trees for more than 30 years. The car has appeared at one car show since it's resurrection. Appropriately enough that car show was in the Halloween Capital of the World (Anoka, MN) and the car show was called "Frankenstiners". This 1960 Chevy Bel Air had a big crowd around it the entire day.

The body is fairly straight with the exception of the front, passenger side wheel well. The car is actually fairly solid there. The trunk has one broken hinge so it opens and closes ok but it needs a rod to have it stay open. As you can see in the detailed photos below this description, there is rust  on much of the lower portions of the car, but it's a nice, original example of the classic 1960 Chevy Bel Air.

The car is nearly complete as far as I can tell with the exception of the vent window crakes and some arm rests. It is a spectacle to see the wear on the original interior. Except for those few door panel items everything else seems to be present and accounted for. There is even an original jack in the trunk. Nearly every part of the car looks nearly untouched. The odometer reads 24,966 and my guess would be it is actually 124,996. The gas gauge always shows full, but the speedometer and odometer do work. The car does have current tabs but it does not have a title and it will be sold with a Bill of Sale. (EBay would not let me select "other" during the listing, so disregard the "lemon, buyback" classification.)

If you choose to restore this classic 1960 Chevy Bel Air you will have quite a story of its interesting origins! If you decide to keep it as is you will have an affordable cruiser that will surely demand a second look from any enthusiast or passerby. Personalized plates on vehicles (if any) belong to the owner of record and cannot be included with the vehicle.

A non-refundable deposit of $500 is due within 48 hours of the auction close (acceptable via Paypal). The remaining balance is due within 72 hours of the close of auction, unless other arrangements were made. Accepted payment methods are bank wire transfers, cashier's checks, cash in person and money orders. If you wish to obtain financing, please do so ahead of time. We reserve the right to end the auction early. We also reserve the right to verify any or all bids to ensure exceptional auction integrity. Please do not ask the reserve amount, as we will not disclose this information.

Transportation expenses are the sole responsibility of the buyer. We cannot be held liable for any problems or damages arising from or due to transportation handling.
