1978 Buick Electra 225 / Immaculate Original Condition / 46,850 original miles / 1 owner / 403 V-8 / never in salt

You are viewing a gorgeous 1978 Buick Electra 225.  It has 46,850 ORIGINAL miles and has been garage kept and well cared for since new.  I purchased the car from the original owner’s estate in September.  I have the original owner's manuals.  She is dressed with the genuine Buick chrome wheels and vinyl top.   The Buick is equipped with power seat, air conditioning (just serviced with a new compressor too!), power windows, intermittent wipers, and limited slip differential.  Overall the car is immaculate.  The title is clear and has no liens.  The title is exempt from the mileage requirement but the condition of the car truly confirms the mileage as original.  I also spoke with the widow of the owner and she also confirmed the mileage as correct.  This is an extremely comfortable car, and one of the last years of the traditional rear wheel drive Buick’s…with the tried-and-true reliable 6.6 liter 403 V-8 liter engine.  The car runs and drives beautifully and I’m sure it would go across country effortlessly. 

Exterior:

The original paint is a beautiful metallic green with contrasting white vinyl top.  The chrome and the stainless steel also shine very nice.  The vinyl top is in great shape…no rust underneath the vinyl.  The factory chrome wheels are gorgeous and have no road rash or any rust.    The underbody, although not detailed, is also in amazing shape and was never in salt, according to the previous owner’s widow.  The condition confirms this.  There is no rust under the trunk lid or under the doors.  There are no dings or dents to speak of, anywhere.  The car was obviously garage kept all its life.  The paint is nearly immaculate, with few imperfections, as follows:  1)  upon very close inspection, only in certain light, a portion of the paint on the hood is just starting to wear thin.  It is so slight the pictures cannot show this.  2) The corner of the trunk (near the rear window) has a minor discoloration, like maybe a rag with some cleaner was wiped across the corner.  The texture of the surface was not damaged, just discolored some on the corner of the trunk.  Maybe with some good compound it could be corrected.  3) Directly behind the left rear door, there is an older repair of what appears to have been a small dent in the quarter panel….the dent was filled in and there is some alligatoring of the paint in this area.  All 3 of these imperfections are not very noticeable, and must be seen up close in the proper lighting….difficult to see in pics and not readily noticeable in person but I want to be up front so there is full disclosure.  I would say the car is show-worthy as is.  The exterior is overall very nice and is obvious of the care it has received.  Again, the car is in amazing, beautiful shape, and is ready for the show!

Interior:

The interior is stunning, including the light green velvet seats which feel, look, and smell brand new.….and there are NO air fresheners needed in this car!  The seats are comfortable, much like a favorite chair.  It was obviously NEVER smoked in.  Cigarette lighters were never used.  There are no rips, stains or holes.  The green carpets are also like new.  The headliner does not sag.  The dash is beautiful.  Arm rests are like new….no wear, stains, etc.  Even the stitching in the seats is like brand new.  The power equipment goodies all work, except the clock is not working….not sure why but may be something simple.  Also, the power windows, A/C, radio, 8-track, etc. all work well.

Mechanical:

The motor purrs like a kitten and is extremely smooth.  As mentioned earlier, the motor is the 403 engine which was both reliable and not too bad on gas.  The transmission shifts smooth and the fluid looks good.  It passed the PA safety inspection with flying colors and is valid through September 2014.  My mechanic also inspected the fluids and hoses and said they look fine.  The A/C compressor was just replaced and the old R-12 type refrigerant is still in place.  In the meantime, the mechanic replaced all 3 v-belts. I also had the master cylinder replaced.  The tires are in good shape and have plenty of tread left.  The car tracks straight, steering is tight, and brakes stop straight.  The exhaust system appears to be in good shape, and even has the correct OEM factory style resonator, resulting in a very quiet purr.  This baby runs beautifully and is ready for show!

Overall:

If you are looking for a great example of the last of the traditional full size Buick, this one’s for you.  The car is gorgeous and gets lots of compliments.  I have yet to see another Buick just like it.  I’ve sold numerous cars on eBay and in all situations I had positive feedback.  I attempt to describe each vehicle as accurately and honestly as possible and I do not think you will be disappointed.  As with anything, if you desire to bid on the vehicle, I would encourage you to see it physically and drive it for yourself before you bid.   I would not be afraid to drive this car across the country.  It runs and drives excellent and will make a very nice classic for you.   If you get the winning bid and are not completely satisfied upon your physical inspection, you can walk away from the vehicle, less $125 of your deposit (to pay for the cost of having to relist on eBay).
