1967 Jaguar XKE Coupe 2+2, All Original and Rust-Free

E-type Series I, covered headlights version.  Very rare car, reportedly only 3616 Series I FHC (Coupe) 2+2s were produced, much fewer than the roadsters.  These cars are quite collectible, especially if rust-free.  It is unique in that it is a true sports car with an actual small back seat that is suitable for 2 people, or the luggage area can be extended over these small seats for more luggage space.  Has the rare, original, knock-off hub wire wheels with brass hammer to remove.  The 2+2 XKE is long, low and absolutely gorgeous, and the main reason I am selling is simply to reduce my collection of sports cars.

The odometer on this car shows about 11,300 miles and it was replaced at 41,029 miles, so I believe (but cannot be 100% sure) that the car has about 52,400 total original miles on it.

No evidence of any rust or any rust repair ever that I know of.  I have owned the car for 11 years and have known its prior local owner for 20+ years.  Always garaged.  I have described everything here as accurately as possible, and will be glad to answer any questions via email.  Please see the extensive photos that I have posted for condition.

Engine/Transmission.  This is the larger 4.2 liter engine that came in the later Series I's, with 3 SU carburetors in their original configuration, making 265 HP.  The engine was completely rebuilt about 14,000 miles ago.  Transmission is the 4-speed manual, which is more desirable than the automatic for collectors.  Clutch replaced at approximate same time as engine rebuild.  Have receipts.  Clutch hydraulic cylinder is new. For about the last 2000 miles, the engine has had a small metallic sound of unknown source that seems to occur at a narrow RPM range, but it starts and drives well. Cannot ascertain exact source of the noise and not sure of repair needed to alleviate.  Does not burn any oil and leaks very little for a 46-year British car.  Runs cool for this type of car, in part due to a replacement radiator and a large electric fan, with interior switch control, that I installed.  The original 2-blade fan was retained in place behind radiator, and the larger added fan is in front of radiator.  **This electric fan, and a fuel shut-off valve, are the only non-original parts on this car.**    Engine compartment is not detailed but is very clean and free of oil.  Exhaust system is a replacement of original, and dual rear chrome pipes are very good condition.

Engine was recently tuned-up, 3 SU carbs serviced, new spark plug wires, and all belts and hoses are new.

Exterior: Good condition overall.  Signal Red paint is about 10 years old but has excellent shine, no fading or peeling, a couple very tiny blemishes, and a small dent underneath the front nose piece which is not evident until you get under the car.  Paint is very serviceable but certainly not show quality.  Chrome is excellent and shows no dents or damage.  Have front grill bar -- not shown in photos because removed it to install the electric fan -- see below.  Glass is all very good.  Underneath the car, the original undercoating is still present.  No evidence of any rust repair of any kind on this all-original car.

Interior:  All door panels and luggage area panels are in excellent original condition. Headliner is also good with no tears, but could benefit from a cleaning.  Steering wheel is the original walnut rimmed wheel. Dashboard has no cracks.  All gauges except tachometer work fine (I believe the tach needs the generator replaced).  Carpeting needs to be replaced, as it is the original, and this is readily available from Jag suppliers.  Seats are the original leather, which shows cracking, with sheepskin covers on the front buckets.  All lights and gauges work.  Window regulators and locks work fine. Lap belts only.

On the 2+2, there is a unique rear hatch door, which opens sideways.  This reveals a large luggage area with chrome strips, and underneath the luggage area floor is the spare tire and jack/tools.  The luggage area can be slid forward over the small "+2 seats" to make a much longer luggage area.

Brakes:  Brakes were recently replaced at cost of more than $2000 with all parts from White Post Restorations (see photos):  New SS-sleeved master cylinder and front calipers, new brake booster/reservoir, new brakes lines on wheels, new clutch slave cylinder, new fluid, new pads, etc.

Wheels and tires:  Original knockoff hub wire wheels are in excellent condition, with good chrome and very minimal pitting on them.  Have 5 wheels total. Original knockoff hub hammer and jack.  Radial tires have excellent tread, but are about 10 years old and probably should be replaced for high-speed interstate driving.

Beverly Hills canvas custom-fit car cover included.

It is extremely rare to find one of these cars that is still an original and is free of rust.

If you have wanted a Series I XKE Jaguar with the covered headlights, this is an excellent opportunity to buy a beautiful car at a reasonable price that is practical enough to really be used.
