Up for auction is my 1990 Honda Prelude 5 speed 4WS (four wheel steering). It has to be one the cleanest 3rd gen preludes left. Most of these cars have rusted out, been abused, modified, trashed then thrown away. Finding a clean one these days is not easy. I have owned this car for almost 9 years. Selling this car is the hardest thing I have ever had to sell. It has taken me many years of work to get the car in the condition you see now. There is 70 pictures on photobucket of this car so the buyer can see exactly what he/she is buying. I replaced the engine and transmission in 2005 with JDM ones. The engine is a 1990 B20A with matching D2A4 transmission. The ECU is the correct JDM ECU that came with the motor. (this allows the secondary throttle valves on the intake manifold to work and does not throw a check engine light because there is no EGR) I have passed strict RI emissions with this car and it gets 30MPG. With this car maintenance was always my first priority. When it needed something it was fixed immediately. The car is mechanically sound very reliable. There is not one clunk or abnormal noise when driving. I have replaced every wear item on the car including every seal on the engine, the clutch, master and slave cylinders, real calipers and all the brakes. It has the drive shafts that came with the JDM engine with new OEM Honda boots installed. OEM Honda lower and upper control arm rubber bushings and lower and upper ball joints were replaced. The car has a Ingalls camber kit to correct the alignment after lowering. Back in 2005 I lowered the car. If I could turn back time I may not have lowered it so much but it does handle incredible. Because it is low you have to be careful driving it to avoid potholes. This car has always been a pleasure car and never used for daily commutes, driven in the rain or winter. It has been garaged always since I have owned it. Aftermarket parts include 17" Enkei wheels, H&R springs, tokico shocks and a ingalls camber kit and DC header and tinted windows. As a previous full time ASE certified mechanic I have driven hundreds of different customers vehicles. I have never driven a more fun to drive and better handling car than this car. It truely handles like a go kart and low speed maneuvering is insane. The car can be steered with one finger. (My 2000 prelude sh handles like a boat compared to this car) This car drives down the road better than it looks. If you win this auction you can drive the car before paying and if you do not think it drives perfect you are not obligated to buy it. (keep in mind it is a 1990 car and is not brand new) That is how confident I am that who ever buys this car will be shocked how well it drives and handles. The transmission and engine run perfect with no issues. The only thing on the car not working is the A/C. This is because I over filled it with one of those recharge cans. A o-ring on the hose that goes into the compressor let go while I was charging it. I have not got around to fixing it because I never use A/C. It did work before this happened last year so all it should need is this o-ring. I have the original 14" wheels for the car if the new owner wants them. I have a folder of receipts for parts I bought for the car. I paid close to $350 for new old stock fog lights and turn signals. The engine and transmission with ECU swap was $1600 and then I spend an additional $600 on OEM maintenance parts when doing the swap and $450 on the discontinued DC header and $200 on a cat converter. I have made every effort to keep this car close to factory original as possible with the exception of the suspension, wheels and tires and header. These can be swapped out easily to put the car back to showroom original condition. (there is no header exhaust leaks) Every bolt, clip and bracket is where it belongs. The pictures of the car speak for themselves. I will point out that the floor mats are stained and not the correct color but finding OEM ones has become difficult. The paint IS original and has its fair share of scratches and rock chips on the front. The car has never been in ANY type of collision. The car really deserves a new paint job in the future. As you can see it has been touched up in many places. There is no rust thru on the body which is rare for these cars after 10 years, and this car is almost 24 years old. There is NO rot on the suspension, undercarriage, subframe, brake lines, rockers, trunk or anywhere else. Just minor minor light surface rust on parts like the shock forks. I never undercoated the car so you can see nothing is hidden with undercoating. When I got the car in 05 there was some minor rust bubbles starting on the forward rear wheels I had a body shop fix. The paint they used was chipping and I had to spray over it recently. The match is not perfect. Last year I had the windshield professionally replaced because it had a crack. The cruise control works, power windows work perfect (and are not slow) The power locks (rare 4WS only feature) work perfect, the gauges work prefect, the heat works great, and the sunroof works great, power mirrors work, pop up headlights always have worked perfect. I cant think of any issues the car has. There is no hacking and butchering of ANY kind to this cars wiring or anything else. I do not want to sell this car but am forced to as I am loosing my garage space and I cannot leave the car outside to deteriorate. I also have been diagnosed with cancer in the spine and am being burdened by medical bills forcing me to sell this car. Im sure there is things I forgot to mention about the car as I have had it for so long. If you have any questions and want to talk to me about the car please message me and I will give you my number. Also if the buyer needs assistance with parts down the road I have seventeen 88-91 prelude parts cars. Click on the photobucket link for more pictures. Thanks and good luck bidding
