Super-sleek 4dr hardtop in seldom seen Cordovan (dark brown metallic) with matching interior. 

 

Documentation back to 1964, showing original owner’s name comes with the car.  Clear recent title shows 64K original miles, which I absolutely believe to be accurate.

 

Mechanical Condition: 401 cubic inch nailhead V8 runs but with a miss and wrist pin knock.  Dynaflow transmission is an older rebuild and operates perfectly.  Has true dual exhaust but it will need to be replaced.   New front brake cylinders and lines, needs rear brakes to be done, but stops safely as-is.  Newly restored fuel tank and sending unit, new fuel lines.  Drives well but will need more TLC to be fully roadworthy.  This is a matching numbers car. 

 

Body Condition:  Most of the paint is factory original.  Body panels extremely straight, however has some minor filler work in the hood; the nose appears to have been repainted, probably over 30-40 years ago.  Left front fender has some rust perforation around the wheel well and adjacent the hood.  Driver’s side rear door has a large rust hole below the molding, confined mostly to the outer sheet metal.  Rocker panels on both sides have some rust-through, but not terrible.  Rest of the car is decently solid.  There is some rust blistering in the paint on the hood and front fenders, and some other spots on the car.  Please look at the photos carefully before bidding.

 

Interior condition: Original seats, dash, headliner, door panels and trim are in excellent condition.  Front driver’s seat has a hole in the vinyl portion of the lower section of the backrest.  Original carpet is decent.  Dash is remarkable – even the padded sections are perfect, not distorted and not cracked.  Headliner is not torn, dome lights not cracked.  Seats are not hardened or crispy, but they need a good cleaning.

 

Glass: Car is equipped with factory E-Z-Eye blue-green tinted glass all around, which adds to the slick visual appeal of the car.  All the glass is in nearly perfect shape, except for the driver’s door glass, which is cracked.  Easy fix, the glass is available.  Will need a lower window channel as well. 

 

Undercarriage: Floors and frame are solid and have no rust through.  Flaky surface rust is evident.  Was undercoated when new, still evident. 

 

Car is completely stock and un-tampered with.  All four correct Super Deluxe Wheel Covers are still in place.  Original tube radio works!

This is the Electra 4dr hardtop, model 4739, of which 14,488 were produced in 1960.  Is equipped with the correct standard Wildcat 445, 401 cubic inch V8, outputting 325 horsepower, with a Carter AFB (4 barrel), and factory dual exhaust (standard equipment).

 

All ’60 Buicks had some super-cool features such as gas-pedal start (to start the car, turn the ignition switch on, and depress the gas pedal to engage the starter), and Mirrormagic Instrument Panel (speedometer is seen through a mirror, and is adjustable to your line of sight).
