	IMPORTANT INTRODUCTORY NOTES:  This 1969 LINCOLN MARK III is an American Automotive Icon.  In 1969, Lincoln and Cadillac were the epitome of luxury motoring...with very little foreign competition in the U.S. market.  Motor Trend Magazine developed the famed "King of the Hill" comparison report between the Mark III and Eldorado...and the Mark III repeatedly was declared the winner.  The Mark II which preceded it is generally considered to be the finest postwar American car built...and the Mark III was the most carefully built American car since the Mark II. THE FIRST 20 PICTURES will give you a general overview of the MARK III, but if you are seriously interested...we suggest that you look at ALL 100+ images because we want you to see EVERYTHING.  This is one of those rare vehicles that looks BETTER the CLOSER you LOOK! QUESTIONS?...after reviewing ALL the images and reading the entire description, please call Jim Murphy if you have any questions:  706-429-7924 EXCELLENT INVESTMENT!!!  NADA VALUATION FOR 1969 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL MARK III IN EXCELLENT CONDITION IS $29,590 THE LINCOLN MARK III STORY:  Lincoln executives were a bit envious of the Ford Thunderbird...it was firmly positioned as a luxury car - with a luxury car price - yet it was marketed at Ford Dealerships.  Lincoln wanted its own Personal Luxury coupe, as well as a worthy successor to the hallowed Mark II. The pride that went into the Mark III shows everywhere...from the enormous triple-plated front grille to the advanced fiber optics that monitored the tail-lamps.  More precision sewing appears on the door and side panels of this car than you would see in many Mercedes cars car these days!  When introduced in April 1968, Lincoln even blue-printed EVERY 460 CID V8 that went into the Mark IIIs.  A special option for factory wet-sanding and polishing was also available! The car didn't have a "clock" per se...it had a CHRONOMETER...from Cartier, no less!  At the time, it was the highest precision time-keeping instrument installed in ANY car at ANY price. It was also the first car I know of to employ Fiber-Optics...as rear lamp monitors for the turn signal and brake functions...and this feature works! BACKGROUND ON THIS MARK III...the car was purchased new in Mississippi by a Greeneville, Tennesse buyer...thus documenting it as an original Southern Car. The ORIGINAL window price sticker, factory Build Sheet, and original owner information all accompany the car.  Most importantly, we saw no evidence of corrosion anywhere.  It appears to have been a Southern car for the entire 44-year "life" it has had since its initial sale in February 1969.  For years, this Mark has been in Georgia...and now South Carolina collector hands. I have belonged to the Lincoln Continental Owners Club for over 25 years...and this is the MOST ORIGINAL Mark III example I have ever seen.  The ONLY variations of any significance from complete originality appear to be the addition of the trunk-mounted Sony AM-FM Stereo Radio.CD unit, and some paintwork on the passenger's side of the car...which could simply have been to remedy parking lot or garage incidents.  The vinyl roof, leather interior, headliner, exterior paint and chrome are all exceptional. No car - at any price - is perfect, and we noted a few minor imperfections - patina of careful and respectful use, if you will - and some of these appear in the last set of images.. As an owner of several Marks over the years, I can tell interested buyers that the most remarkable evidence suggesting that the 31,255 odometer reading is indeed original is the OUTSTANDING condition of the steering wheel rim.  Lincoln applied a very special GRAINED WOOD finish to these wheels...which - though beautiful - rubbed off quite easily.  EVERY high mileage Mark III that I have seen has little or NONE of this original Walnut-toned graining and relief intact.  THIS steering wheel is virtually AS NEW in its originally intended Wood-Grain appearance...this is exceptional and indicative of very "light use" of this car over the past 44 years. MANY INVESTMENTS MADE SINCE 2012 BY A CARING OWNER...including the following NEW items:  Dry-Cell Battery, Battery cables, Fuel Filter, (both at Carb and in-line), Ignition Coil, Electronic Ignition, Transmission Filter - Fluid - Pan Gasket, 5/16" Fuel line, PCV Valve, Ignition Wires, Distributor Rotor & Cap, Front Disc Brakes, Front & Rear Shocks, AC & Alternator Belts, Spark Plugs, Antifreeze, 2-Coolant Hoses, Wheel Bearings, Carburetor, Vacuum Lines as needed, Heater Control Valve, Rebuilt Alternator, Rear Wheel Cylinders, and Axle Seats. OPERATIONAL REPORT:  The car drives very nicely with the responsive 460 cid V8 and the smooth-shifting automatic transmission.  The AC even blows cold.  The Power seats and Driver's side windows are all operational, as are all exterior lights, horn, fibre-optic lamp monitors, power trunk release, wipers, and the front driver/passenger power windows, as well as all the six-way driver's and passenger's power seat functions. However, it is extremely rare for every feature to be operational on a car of this age...and this car is no exception.  The Cartier Chronometer ("clock") is not operational (though intermittently, there may be some movement), the rear passenger side power windows are not operative, and  the overhead Seat Belt and Head Lamp convenience monitor lights are out. The AM Radio/8-Track has been bypassed in favor of the trunk-mounted Sony audio system. The vacuum operated headlamp doors operate just as they should...maintaining an open (headlamps on) or closed (headlamps off) orientation as desired when the car is running.  If the car sits for awhile (engine off) the headlamp doors will swing open to their default position (and then shut when the car is started...unless the driver wants the headlamps on, of course). Bank to Bank Wire Transfer is preferred as the safest and fastest-clearing method of payment for BOTH Buyer and Seller.  The vehicle will be released to the Buyer immediately upon - but not before - FULL bank clearance of payment.
