For one thing, this was the first time that Chevrolet used the model name “Impala”. This was also the first Chevrolet to use the “quad” headlight design. The 1958 Chevrolet was an unusual one-year only design. In the past and for many years after, Chevrolet would use the same body style for two or three years with only trim changes on a particular body style. However, the 1958 Chevrolet neither resembles the 1957 nor the 1959 Chevrolets. The Impala model can be distinguished from the remainder of the Bel Air models by the chrome trim mounted in front of the rear wheels and the “Impala” insignia mounted higher up on the rear fender. The Impala model was available as a 2-door “hardtop” coupe or as a 2-door convertible. Driving Impressions: "This 58 Chevrolet Impala has a tasteful two toned color combination and it really captures that flavor of 1950's styling. First impression I received when viewing the car is how it shows that it has been well cared for throughout it's entire life. The paint shows beautifully and it's hard to believe it was done over 25 years ago and insures the point of a super well cared for American classic. Stepping inside the Coral color continues to complement the interior nicely and the overall interior looks correct. The Impala starts up and the Chevy 348 engine sounds wonderful in this Chevy Sport Coupe. Driving down the road the Impala feels very solid and refined thanks to Chevy's new X-Design frame construction. Photographing the Impala at the local park attracted many people wanting to check the car out and share stories of classic Chevrolets. Everyone kept complimenting how beautiful the Coral and white paint job looked in the late day sunlight and enjoyed the true classic presence the 58 Impala projects. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!"
