Up for auction is a very rare 1953 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon Woody Series 70, 322 cubic inch V-8 4-Barrel car, only year of the V-8, first year of the 12 volt system and last year of the American Woody's.

Buick marked their 50th anniversary in 1953. With V8 engines gaining popularity, it was quite natural that Buick would celebrate its golden anniversary by introducing a modern overhead-valve V8. Remarkably, in addition to the first Buick V8 engine and the first use of a 12-volt electrical system, the 1953 Buick Estate Wagon was the very last woody station wagon offered by an American automobile manufacturer. These factors, combined with Buick’s beautiful styling, make this one of the most desirable and sought-after woody station wagons ever produced.


In 1953, Buick offered two models of Estate Wagons: the Super and the Roadmaster. The two cars are easily distinguished from each other, as the Super has three portholes on each front fender while the Roadmaster has four portholes. You can also see the Roadmaster has stainless trim on the rear quarters.

The production numbers for the 1953 Buick Estate Wagons were only 1,830 Supers and a minuscule 670 Roadmasters. There are thought to be approximately 15 Roadmaster Estate Wagons left in the world today. Another Beautiful Famous Harley Earl design!


I believe this car is a 1 family owner. Mother owned the car and then passed it on down to her daughter when she was 16 niether one of them are around today to tell the story.

I have registrations dating back since 1958 and service records from the local Buick dealer Braley & Graham dating back to 1960. I also have the orginal keys. I washed the barn dust off, vacuumed and aired up the tires. The Woody is not running at the moment. I believe it will be more exciting for whoever buys the car to resurrect it their way. The odometer reads 98,348. Everything is there except one hubcap is missing on the drivers rear wheel, the drivers side inner headlight bezel and the turn sign lens missing. The car has power steering and AM Radio which were options. The wood is in what I call excellent undrestored condition.
