A real beauty of a 1970 round tail light 2002. The car is a rust free example that the previous long time owner had restored in 1990-93. A super nice car to drive and or show. It is the kind of vintage car that shows well and drives well. This is a return visitor to Atlantic Auto Exchange. We have known this car for several years and have put some miles on it. I have many of the reciepts from the prior owner when he was having the body professionally stripped, repaired, and repainted. He used factory BMW parts as needed. The paint is still in excellent condition. That owner has passed away and we obtained the car from his widow about four years ago. We sold the car to a local collector. He has decided to sell down some of his collection and we reaquired the car recently. He has kept the car indoors and most recently sent the bumpers out to be rechromed. This car has all the correct body trim and it is all in superb shape. You won't have to track down bits and pieces to complete this one. It is all there and done. I took lots of pictures of the underside of the body so take a look at how original and solid this car is.

It is in stock form other than the following upgrades. Suspension, Front Brakes, Flofit seats, Wheels, Stereo.

The engine was rebuilt to stock 2 liter specs. This engine looks brand new inside. It does not smoke. It has a downdraft Weber carb upgrade. The exhaust is stock. The car starts right up and settles into a nice idle. The engine pulls strongly.  I have the parts list from the rebuild. It is thorough. The 4 speed transmission is smooth with no synchro issues. Clutch is perfect. The glass is all excellent. He had all the glass and door seals replaced. It appears from the receipts the car has not been driven much in the last twenty years. The odometer reads 39,779 and we believe this to be 139,779. It has only had about 1,700 miles put on it in the last ten years according to inspection reciepts. The former owner was a BMW enthusiast and club member so according to his wife he would only use factory parts unless something was being upgraded. But he liked stock so this is no hot rod. I can see the suspension has Bilstein shocks, aftermarket springs and front and rear sway bars. I do not have reciepts for those so I don't know the brand. The car sits at stock ride height. The shocks are Bilstein HD's. The suspension is firm and tight on the road. The wheels are 14" BMW bottle caps off a E30, a common upgrade. There is a nice Personal steering wheel. The seats are Flofit's. A very popular upgrade in the 80's. They are very similar to Recaro's. They are firm and supportive. The front brakes are bigger brakes from a Volvo 240, again a common upgrade. The stereo has a am/fm/cass and two surface mount Pioneer speakers on the back deck.

Things that keep the car from being a show winner: The headliner looks original and has some minor stains in the rear. The dash has a couple of small cracks. The key only works the ignition, so right now you cannot lock the car. The door seals show some minor cracks on the surface.

This 2002 is a really nice example and is ready to drive and enjoy. We welcome on site inspections.

Winning bidder must contact us within 24 hours of auction end, and make arrangements for payment at that time. A $1,000.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of end of auction. We will accept Visa or Mastercard. The remainder is due within 5 days of Auction end. If no contact is made within 24 hours we reserve the right to re-list the vehicle, sell it to the next high bidder, or sell it otherwise. Most banks and credit unions do not finance vehicles older than 7 years or with more than 100K miles. We do have financing available on qualifying cars if you have qualifying credit. Please contact us for information on applying for a loan. If financing with your own bank, make sure your financial institution accepts the year and miles of this vehicle before bidding. Please arrange financing prior to bidding. We will be happy to fax a buyers order to your bank with all the required vehicle information.

Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, we will gladly cooperate, you can locate shippers by doing a search for `auto shippers`.
