The introduction of the Cougar finally gave Mercury its own pony car. Slotted between the Ford Mustang and the Ford Thunderbird, the Cougar would be the performance icon and eventually the icon for the Mercury name for several decades. The Cougar was available in two models; the base model and the XR7. Engine choices ranged from the 200 hp 289 cubic inch two-barrel V8 to the 335 hp 390 cubic inch four-barrel V8. A notable performance package called the GT was available on both the base and XR-7 Cougars. The GT included the 390 in3 V8, as well as a performance handling package and other performance enhancements.

MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to offer the handsome Jamaican Yellow 1967 Mercury Cougar you see pictured. This Cougar is a two owner car, with the second owner having owned the car since 1987 and believed to have 112,150 original miles.

Finished in Jamaican Yellow, the paint is in excellent shape overall and was recently professionally resprayed. The yellow paint is complimented with a painted black stripe up the center of the hood and cowl. The body is straight and the doors have nice even gaps and shut well. The chrome is in great shape, showing only very minor imperfections. The Cougar also has the hide-away headlights which gives great front end appearance. All correct emblems are in place and in great condition. The original black vinyl top is in excellent overall shape as well.

Inside the black interior compliments the exterior of the car. The seats are wrapped in black vinyl and look amazing. The door panels match the seats and look great. The headliner is also finished in black vinyl and shows no signs of staining or sagging. The black carpet is in great condition. The black dashboard is in excellent condition and shows no signs of cracking or discoloration. The dash houses a set of original gauges and a working AM radio that both look great, especially with the wood veneer bezels. Overall, the interior looks great!

Under the hood, you’ll find the 289 CID four-barrel V8 engine attached to an automatic C-4 transmission that is shifted through the floor. The Cougar comes equipped with power steering, factory AC and power brakes but the AC needs servicing. The Cougar is factory equipped with front wheel disc brakes. It sits upon a set of 14” Magnum 500 wheels wrapped with BFGoodrich Radial T/A 215/70/14 tires in the front and 225/70/14 tires in the rear.

This is an excellent looking, early Mercury muscle car that would make a lovely addition to any car collection or as an enjoyable street car! This car has its original 1967 Cougar Owners Manual in the glove box. The VIN is 7F93A644219 and the mileage currently shows 12,150 which is believed to be originally 112,150 but is being sold on a mileage exempt title due to its age. It is titled on a clean and clear title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
