In 1978, Ford offered the "Diamond Jubilee Edition" Thunderbird to commemorate the company's 75th year as an auto manufacturer. This option package escalated the price of the car to almost $12,000, virtually doubling the base price. Naturally, it included every option available except for a moon roof and an engine block heater. It was originally available in only two colors- Diamond Jubilee exclusive "diamond blue" metallic, or "standard issue" ember metallic; both with matching velour cloth seats with a "biscuit" design. Later in production, Ford offered Leather as an option, and offered white as an exterior color with blue or white trim and interior.

MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present the exceptionally clean and low mileage 1978 Ford Thunderbird “Diamond Jubilee Edition” you see pictured. This car is believed to have only original 23,646 miles, has been meticulously maintained and garage kept nearly its entire life … and it shows! This car was highly optioned in 1978 and is a one only year special edition.

Finished in Diamond Blue Metallic with a blue pinstripe, the paint is in beautiful condition and shows how it spent much of its life as a “garage queen.” The blue vinyl Valino half top is in excellent condition and shows no signs of wear or staining. The lights are hide-away and look great. The chrome is in excellent condition as well and still holds on to its glorious luster. Overall, this car is in stunning condition.

Inside, the interior is finished in blue to complement the exterior of the car. The seats are wrapped in blue cloth and look phenomenal to be 35 years old! The seats, both front and back, show no signs of wear or tear and look excellent. The carpet, dashboard, door panels and headliner are also in superb condition. The dashboard houses all of the original gauges and even has a gold plaque on the passenger side that reads “Made Especially for Bunnie.” The car does have power windows and locks, as well as an AM/FM radio. This Thunderbird is a stunning example of the craftsmanship that went into the special edition commemorating the 75th anniversary of Ford!

Under the hood, you’ll find a 351 cubic inch V8 engine with a FMX automatic transmission attached. The engine sits snug in a tidy engine bay. This particular Thunderbird was equipped with power brakes, power steering and AC. The car sits upon a set of 15” Thunderbird wheels with color matched inlays wrapped in 215-15 Michelin tires.

Included with the purchase of this car is plenty of original documentation and Ford memorabilia. The car has a box full of Ford 75th Anniversary memorabilia which includes two wine glasses, a silver bowl and an oval piece of glass from the Model T-era. The car also comes with an envelope full of detailed photos of the car, a Thunderbird vanity plate, original owner’s manuals, warranty booklets, a 1978 Ford Thunderbird dealership booklet and even the original Consumer Information Card, Quality Control Card and the DSO In Transit card!

This agreement to arbitrate shall survive the sale of the automobile described herein. Buyer and Seller hereby agree that Missouri law shall control for all purposes under this Bill of Sale. Buyer and Seller hereby consent to the personal jurisdiction of the state and federal courts of Missouri to specifically enforce the agreement to arbitrate and to enter judgment of and enforce the award of the arbitrator. All above terms and conditions are applied to vehicle sales, whether through Ebay or otherwise. Sorry, but in all fairness to the bidding process, I will NOT disclose my reserve price until the auction has ended.

Payment Terms
Payment must be made by Cashiers Check, Money Orders or Wire Transfers payable in US Dollars. A Refundable deposit in the amount of $500.00 must be received within Twenty-Four(24)hours of the auctions close either by Master Card, Visa or PayPal. The buyer has seven(7) days from close of auction to inspect the vehicle. If the vehicle is not to your liking within this seven day inspection period then your deposit will be refunded 100%. If an inspection or decision takes longer then seven days and you find the vehicle not to your liking, your deposit will be forfeited and the car will be relisted. Final payment must be received within ten (10) days of the auction close. The refundable deposit only applies if you or an agent inspect said vehicle in St. Louis and find it not to your liking. I will not be responsible for buyers remorse or problems found to said vehicle once they have left my property. I am just being realistic, most of the cars I deal in are vintage and by their very nature will need TLC and some degree of attention sooner or later. These are not new cars and should not be treated as such. Once full payment has been received, Seller will fax a copy of clear title, Bill of sale, Buyers guide and additional DMV forms to the Buyer to sign and return via fax. The forms must be returned to the Seller prior to the shipment of said vehicle. Original paperwork will be sent to Buyer Via overnight mail seven(7)days from date of final payment. Transportation will commence only after final payment and signed documentation are received. Once a car is picked up from our premises, you will NOT be able to return the car.

Overseas shipments will be placed into a steel container for safe sea passage. We take care of all the details and paperwork. All you have to do is collect the car at port and enjoy!
