The Ford Torino is an intermediate automobile produced by the Ford Motor Company for the North American market between 1968 and 1976. The car was named after the city of Turin (Torino, in Italian). The Torino was initially an upscale version of the intermediate sized Ford Fairlane, which Ford produced between 1962 and 1970. After 1968, the Fairlane name was retained for the base models with lower levels of trim than those models which wore the Torino name. During this time, the Torino was considered a subseries to the Fairlane. By 1970 Torino had become the primary name for Ford's intermediate, and the Fairlane was now a subseries of the Torino. In 1971 the Fairlane name was dropped altogether and all Ford intermediates were called Torino. This name was one of several originally proposed for the Mustang while in development. The Torino was essentially a twin to the Mercury Montego line. MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present the handsome, numbers matching 1968 Ford Torino GT you see pictured. This is a rarely seen factory “S” code 390 car with a 4-speed transmission! This particular Torino has had only two owners, the most recent owner having owned it for over 36 years! The Torino was purchased in 1977 with 64,450 miles on it by the 17 year old previous owner as a daily driver out of Southtown Ford in Kansas City. This particular Tornio has had a professional Marti Report ran on it which not only told us it was built six days behind schedule but it was 1 of only 12 in the Sunlit Gold/Parchment combination and 1 of 271 with a 390ci V8 and 4-speed manual! Finished in Sunlit Gold, the paint is in excellent condition, showing very few, very minor imperfections. The power convertible top is finished in Parchment canvas and looks great as it complements the exterior paint. As mentioned before, this Torino is 1 of 12 ordered in the Sunlit Gold/Parchment color combination. The chrome is also in great shape, showing only minor imperfections and still holds onto its bright luster. The body is solid and straight, which is to be expected from a car that has been meticulously maintained and loved its entire life! Inside, you’ll find that the interior has been finished with Parchment vinyl bucket seats which look great! There are no signs of wear or tear to be found on the seats, carpet, dashboard, headliner or door panels. This Torino still has its original AM radio intact as well! The convertible top is power and goes up & down with the flip of a switch. Under the hood, you will find the original 390 cubic inch, 4 valve V8 engine with a 4-speed manual transmission attached. As mentioned previously, this is 1 of 271 Torinos built with this engine/transmission combination. The transmission is shifted through a Hurst shifter located on the floor. The engine bay is clean and looks great. This car came equipped with power steering and power brakes with the front brakes being disc. The Torino sits upon a set of 14” chrome GT wheels wrapped in P205/70R14 white letter tires that look great. The VIN is 8H43S104186 and the mileage currently shows 998, which is actually 100,998 as the odometer rolls over after it hits 99,999. This car comes with three photos from 1978 & 1983, the Torino’s story, a photo of a Torino Indy Pace Car and the Marti Report, all framed together. It’s very hard to come across a numbers matching, original car of this nature and this car would make a great addition to a collection or a great investment grade vehicle! It is being sold on a clean and clear Kansas title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
