The MG Car Company Limited was a former British sports car manufacturer founded in the 1920s by Cecil Kimber. Best known for its two-seat open sports cars, MG also produced saloons and coup'es. Kimber was an employee of William Morris; MG is from Morris Garages. The MG business was Morris's personal property until 1935 when he sold MG into his holding company, Morris Motors Limited, restructuring his holdings before issuing shares in Morris Motors to the public in 1936. On 22 July 2005, the Nanjing Automobile Group purchased the rights to the MG brand and the assets of the MG Rover Group for lb53 million creating a new company MG Motor. The MG T series included the TA, TB, TC, TD, and TF Midget models, a range of body-on-frame convertible sports cars produced in a sequence from 1936 to 1955. The last of these models, the TF, was replaced by the MGA. MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present the rarely seen 1953 MG TD Roadster you see pictured. This car is the recent recipient of a full body off, nut & bolt restoration and is even still a right hand driver. This car would be a top choice car over in England, Australia or Japan … but equally fun to drive anywhere in the world! The stunning Madder Red Urethane paint is brand new and in excellent condition. During the restoration, all of the bad wood on the car was replaced with new wood and the body was taken down to bare metal before being restored to the beautiful roadster you see today. There are no dings or scratches that were found anywhere on the body. The convertible top and tonneau cover have not been completed; however, the car comes with a good, restorable 3-bow top frame, side curtain frames and all of the hardware. All of the chrome on the car is brand new and looks incredible! The authentic Collingburn leather/leatherette interior is just as fantastic as the rest of the car, showing no signs of imperfection or wear. The seats have also received new seat foam, making them ready for the next 60 years of enjoyment! The dash is very solid as well with no cracks or stress marks at all. This car looks just as great inside as it does on the exterior! Under the hood you will find a completely rebuilt 1250cc inline four cylinder, capable of producing up to 76 horsepower. The engine is very clean and tidy. When the engine was rebuilt, the valves and seats were replaced to accept unleaded fuel without lead additive. The carburetor and distributor were fully rebuilt and nothing was left to chance. Attached to the engine is a manual 4-speed transmission. The transmission was also rebuilt with new lay-shaft and bearings. All linkages were brazed up and re-drilled to allow smooth shifting. The TD sits upon a frame and suspension that were finished in black epoxy that looks great. There is a full size spare on the back. The 15” MG wheels are wrapped with 5.60-15 tires and have plenty of life left to them. This car does come with a box of extra parts including the original air cleaner and inlet manifold, starter, correct jack, fuel pump and also includes some manuals. This is a must have collector car that would fit well in any car collection! Be prepared to attract a crowd anywhere you go because this is not a car you see every day! The VIN is T51837 and the mileage currently shows 36, representing the total mileage put on the car since the complete restoration. It is being sold on a clean and clear Texas title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
