"For 1963, the cars from Ford come in more than forty different versions and Ford spent $10 million dollars in redeveloping them.  Improvements came in the form of new front and rear suspension.  Inside, Thunderbird inspired bucket seats and console in 500 XL’s while other models have full width seats.  Full carpeting, crank vent windows, and contour-formed foam cushioning adds to comfort while color-keyed carpet, set side shields, arm rest, sun visors and courtesy lighted interior give it the look of a luxury vehicle.  Probably one of the most widely promoted mid-year introductions by any car company was staged by Ford with their 1963-1/2 models. The Galaxie 500 and Galaxie 500-XL sported a new "fastback" roof design on the two-door hardtop. This was a marked change from the squared-off, T-bird inspired formal roof line used for years on Galaxie models."

According to the current owner, this Galaxie was acquired by him from a Classic Car dealership about 7 years ago and was restored prior to his ownership.  Please let all the pictures load (there are over 120) to see the great condition of this rare Ford.  We don't know everything that was done over the years, the following is what we do know. The odometer shows 85,000 miles and is believed to be correct, but the car is being sold as exempt because of the age.  It appears to be an older professional restoration to original condition with some recent mechanical improvements.  The car was repainted, all the exterior chrome and trim has either been replaced or replated as needed and the undercarriage is exceptionally solid and clean.  The engine is the Z code 390 V-8 mated to a 3 speed automatic transmission, it has power steering and air conditioning.  Within the last few years it has received a new fuel pump, fuel tank, sending unit, vintage style battery and some general maintenance items.  For all the car guys out there what follows are the details.

Please remember that this car is 50 years old and not perfect. The paint is older and is starting to show its age, it cold use a light wet sand, the air conditioning needs a new compressor and there is a seperated seam on the divers front seat as shown.
