General Motors' first major redesign post-World War II, the Advance Design series was billed as a bigger, stronger, and sleeker design. First available on Saturday June 28, 1947, these trucks were sold with various minor changes over the years until March 25, 1955, when the Task Force Series trucks replaced the aging Advance Design model. From 1947 until 1955, Chevrolet trucks were number one in sales in the United States. 1954 was the only year for significant changes to the pickup. Changes included the windshield was now curved one-piece glass without center vertical dividing strip, a revised steering wheel, a revised dashboard, cargo bed rails that were previously angled and were now horizontal, the tail lights were now round instead of rectangular and the grille changed from five horizontal slats to a crossbar design commonly referred to as a "bull nose" grille which was similar to the modern Dodge truck grille. The engine was now a 235 cubic inch Inline 6. The serial number codes remained unchanged from 1953. A Hydramatic automatic transmission was available for the first time as a paid for option. MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present the beautiful 1954 Chevrolet Stakebed Pickup you see pictured. This particular era of trucks is also referred to as the “Advance Design” series which was built to be bigger, stronger and sleeker than ever before. The ’54 you see here has benefitted from a subtle cosmetic restoration and looks stunning! It has been lovingly cared for by the previous owner for the last seven years. Finished in a dark green, the paint is great condition, showing only minor imperfections. The body is in good condition and shows only minor imperfections. This truck came equipped with running boards and a modified stake bed that has red, metal walls that have been accented with white pinstripes and a wood bed floor. Overall, this truck shows well. Inside, the truck has been finished in two tone brown. The seats are wrapped in a brown vinyl combination which looks great. There are no notable signs of wear or imperfections to be found on the seat. The door panels show minor wear. The headliner and floor are all in great shape as well. The two tone brown dashboard appears to remain original and looks great. Under the hood, you’ll find a clean engine bay. The 235 cubic inch Inline 6 engine, casting number 3835911, is attached to a manual transmission. The pickup sits upon a set of 15” wheels with painted Chevrolet center caps that are wrapped in 7.00-15 tires. This is an awesome pickup and would make a great addition to any collection or even as a work truck on the farm. The VIN is J545035398 and the mileage currently shows 02,178. It is being sold on a clean and clear Illinois title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
