The 2006 Lexus RX 400h SUV hybrid loads a lot of great technology into a sleek looking SUV which offers powerful acceleration, luxury appointments, and a fuel sipping hybrid power train. The driving force behind the RX 400h is Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive technology, which lets the car run on either gas, electric, or both power sources. Power surges from a 208 hp 3.3 litre gasoline engine, combined with 2 electric motors, for a total of 268 horsepower. The combined powerplants, allow the RX 400h to accelerate to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds (sports car territory) and still deliver an amazing EPA rated 31 mpg on the highway. The RX 400 uses the electric motors to get moving at low speeds, with the gasoline engine taking over when you have the need for speed. All this is done seamlessly, the two powerplants working remarkably well together. The RX 400h comes loaded from the factory with evey conceivable option.
