The 2010 STI SE is one of very few factory stock SPEC C suspension vehicles that Subaru imported to the US market.

Spec C is Subaru’s homologation model.  Vehicles with this designation typically have suspension and weight improvements while sacrificing amenities, originally intended for racing in Production World Rally (PWRC) and Group N rally circuits.   Previous Spec C models had only been available in Japan until a limited run for the US market in 2006, and again for a limited run in 2010.

For this model, the Spec C suspension consists of a 1 mm thicker rear stabilizer bar, stiffer rear sub-frame bushings, stiffer front springs(+16%) and stiffer rear springs (+29%) over the stock STI suspension.

Special Edition STI were sold as a track enthusiast’s car, the weight saving measures (amenity deletions) include a basic 4 speaker stereo rather than 10 speakers, manual A/C and heating rather than automatic dual zoneclimate control, deleted fog lights, and halogen rather than HID headlamps.

The stock stereo sounded terrible, so I quickly upgraded it to a Kenwood DNX7190HD along with the 4 speakers in 2013.  Bluetooth and steering wheel stereo buttons function normally.

1 accident in 2/2012 struck road debris damaging the right front lower control arm, knuckle, rear wheel, rear hub and trailing arm, all components were replaced by dealer.  There was no frame damage.  Vehicle has tracked perfectly straight line and through turns in both directions on/off power since repair.

1 accident in 2/2018, I struck a deer, left front head light unit and front bumper skin replaced, again with no frame damage.  The deer fled the scene of the accident seemingly unharmed.
