Introduced to the North American market in 1981, the GTV6 was derived from the Alfetta coupe designed by Giorgettio Giugiaro. This example features a Zender-style body kit with side skirts and revised body-color bumpers along with a Callaway hood scoop and optioned rear wing. It was repainted by Automotive International of Charlotte, North Carolina in 2017 following repairs of the right door and quarter panel as well as rust remediation on the right fender. The sunroof and door gaskets were replaced in 2019.
Multi-piece 15? Zender wheels have been refinished and are mounted with 195/55 Douglas Performance A/S tires that show date codes from 2015 and 2016, while a non-matching spare wheel is stored in the trunk. The car is equipped with independent double-wishbone front suspension, and braking is handled by power-assisted front and inboard-mounted rear discs with Brembo calipers. The lower ball joints and rear wheel bearings were replaced and 15mm rear wheel spacers were installed in 2019.
The cabin houses front bucket seats upholstered in black leather that extends to the rear bench and door panels. Appointments include a cassette stereo, Alpine speakers, power windows, and Alfa Romeo-branded floor mats. The air conditioning system was converted to R134a and fitted with a replacement compressor and idler pulley in 2019.
A three-spoke steering wheel fronts a Veglia Borletti 150-mph speedometer and tachometer along with a Borg analog clock. Auxiliary gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure are mounted in the center stack, and a turbo gauge is fitted to the left of the steering column. The five-digit odometer shows 48k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership.
The Busso 2.5-liter V6 was modified by Callaway with twin IHI RHB5 turbochargers, dual air-to-air top-mount intercoolers, and a solid-state fuel injection controller paired with the factory Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection system. These modifications reportedly raised output to 230 horsepower and 245 lb-ft of torque, a 50% increase over the standard GTV6. The turbochargers on this example were rebuilt in 2019, and additional work at that time consisted of modifying the throttle body to accept an additional fuel injector, rebuilding the starter and alternator, repairing the wiring harness, installing a custom-fabricated exhaust system, and replacing the fuel pump and mounts, timing belt tensioner, fuel injectors, coolant expansion tank, fuel tank, and fuel level sending unit.
