Please note first: this car is located in California, has been previously registered in California, and will need to pass a smog test to be registered in California again, which we have not accomplished yet. It is offered for sale either to be shipped out of California where it won't need to pass a smog test, or to a California buyer that will take responsibility to get the smog done and complete the registration.
If you saw this car here on eBay a few months ago, yes it is the same car. We bought it from the estate sale and started the registration process. The car had been parked for a while after the previous owner passed away and the computer cleared the codes. A scanner at a smog check shop needs to check the codes and it hasn't shown the catalytic converter showing up yet, often this takes driving the car some number of miles and stop and start cycles to reset the codes. I've driven the car over 300 miles to set the codes but then had a vacuum leak to repair and the codes may have reset to zero all over again.
The car runs, drives, transmission shifts well, and the body is sound without rust or dents. The top is OK and the tires are good for now although the front tires and getting close to the wear bars.
Now, we have a surgery issue at home and I'm not able to complete the smog and registration in a timely manner. In addition to not reading the catalytic converter, the car has had codes for misfire, EGR valve, and vacuum leak. The vacuum leak has been located and repaired and the other items shouldn't be major issues but I don't have availability to get it done.
In addition to passing smog it will need a couple of things:
Someone put a plastic film coating over the nose of the car and the mirrors sometime back. This coating has cracked and the cracks are visible, I tried removing it with heating with a heat gun and it will turn soft and scrape off, but the surrounding plastic gets soft and then hardens again in clumps and is difficult to remove. There is a spot on the front right fender where I started removing the plastic and then sanded and spot painted the spot. You can see in the picture the cracking above the painted spot. Someone that knows how to remove the plastic can get it off but its possible the car may need some repainting. The rest of paint also has some blemishes here and there and the plastic under the grill at the front bumper needs a repair.
Also the suspension shows some wear, there is some rattling noise and it needs bushings and shock absorbers. Most of these parts are in common with Jaguar so the parts are available.
We have not tried to use the power top and don’t know if it works or not.
The car is presently at a service shop in Ventura California where they repaired the vacuum leak and a power steering fluid leak. It can be seen and inspected there. Bidders are encouraged to get in touch and inspect the car in person.
This is a 23 year old car and is offered with no warranty and without a California smog certificate. Please email seller with any questions or if you would like to see the car in person.
