1998 Jeep Wrangler TJ

For consignment, a 1998 Wrangler TJ that has undergone a full restoration and a powertrain changeover that will having you singing compression ignition.  Starting life as a lowly gas powered climber with no air conditioning, our consignor took this rig to the next level with Cummins turbo diesel power under the hood...more on that later, but I will offer you a dribble bib to catch the saliva I see forming on your lower lip when your heard the word "diesel".  With like new knobby tires, a suspension lift, electric locker axles, a cleaned and painted frame and undercarriage, and all in excellent condition, let's get a little mud on the tires.  "Climb every mountain..."

Exterior
Gray Line-X bed liner coated steel bathes the rust free body, which maintains the factory gaps and displays nicely with a tubular front steel bumper, factory black steel rear bumper and black Line-X lined flexible fenders flares.  15" ProComp 7096 wheels which are wrapped in nearly new ProComp Xtreme MT2 35x12.50R15LT mud slingers.  The long running and instantly recognizable Jeep grille leads the way and is flanked by traditional round headlights.  The exterior latched hood leads back to the slightly raked windshield which gives support to a nice black bikini top, which can be removed giving one an open cockpit and rear passenger area.  Half vinyl doors are on the sides, again easily removable for that full open air experience.  A note to the full-sized spare hanging off the back mount for it, and is ready to step things up should you experience a flat.  "Search high and low..."

Interior
A climb inside and we see cloth making up the seats.  Smooth charcoal black makes up the seating surfaces which have been fitted with body hugging bolsters and show with light staining.  The rear bench also shows in charcoal black cloth and appears as nearly new.  The dash utilizes more charcoal for its plastic as well and presents very nicely.  New gauges were installed at the time of the engine swap, so to determine the total chassis miles one simply has to add the number on the original cluster to the count on the new gauge, (128,016 + 5,032).  An AutoMeter multi-gauge cluster sits in front of the driver and in the center of the dash is a Pioneer AM/FM/CD player, heater/AC control slides, small round auxiliary toggles in rectangular pods, and ventilation outlets.  Black Line-X coating covers the floors and shows almost no wear and is protected by black deeply treaded rubber mats.  A long armed T-handle shifter for the transmission and another shifter for the transfer case grows from the center hump and a small black plastic console resides between the seats.  In the rear storage compartment we note multiple hanging bags to hold your sundries and tools.  Very nice overall interior.  "Follow every byway..."

Drivetrain
Long gone is the original gasoline burning engine, and in its place now resides a 5,032 mile Cummins R2.8 liter 4 cylinder turbo diesel mill.  This "clacker" is fed by EFI and the installation was performed by Axis Industries.  A new 5-speed manual transmission was installed in March of 2023 and the receipts are included.  4.10 geared Dana 44 G2 Core axles with electric lockers help you climb your way over every obstacle that gets in your path.  Our consignor notes that new Adams Extreme Duty 1330 and 1350 driveshafts have been installed as well.  "Every path you know..."

Undercarriage
Deep black Line-X coating covers all components of the undercarriage save for the OEM style single exhaust system.  Nary an area of surface rust with all steel strong for the straight frame and suspension underneath.  Any issues that had developed have been rectified and things are looking tip top.  Locked N Loaded 4x4 fabrication in Collegeville, PA was called up for the installation of the Clayton 4" short arm lift, (4 link with coil springs front and rear), with Fox 2.0 shocks, a Fox steering stabilizer, and Currie Current Lync heavy duty tie rod system as well as the JSK rear trac-bar.  Power 4 wheel disc brakes are on for your wilderness stopovers.  "Fjord every stream..."

Drive-Ability
This baby fires right up, runs smoothly, and all 4x4 gears work perfectly.  A bit of a ride, but based on the fact it's a Jeep, pretty good.  The tires sing a bit when you cruise, and unfortunately the Classic Auto Mall test area does not have anything over 10 feet in altitude to try to climb.  Just an A+ build with everything working swimmingly, including the added AC.

A fully built and documented all good condition TJ Wrangler, complete with knobby ProComp tires, as well as a nice interior and a bikini top.  This truck is ready to take you where no man has gone before, or at least the wilds of this country where you can reach new heights and sing its praises.
