Up for sale is a REALLY NICE example of a second generation Corvair. Painstakingly restored by a very fastidious owner in just the last 3-4 years. Very nice, numbers matching Mist Blue paint with a correct medium blue bucket seat interior. A Powerglide automatic transmission and a 110 HP flat six engine. A very nice presentation overall. This is a rare Los Angeles built Corvair.
A southern rust free car, the interior was completely stripped and original floors coated with POR-15. All side panels removed and cleaned. All four window regulators removed and lubed (The windows roll up and down like silk.). New window fuzzies (sweeps) installed also. Steering wheel sent out and restored to new condition. Gauges removed and orange needles restored. Yes, it's that detailed. Trunk and engine compartments painted and detailed to show quality. Newer tires and correct wire wheel covers with three prong spinners really set it off nicely. A newer retro sound stereo was installed in the original radio opening and an electric antenna was added. The original AM radio is included in the sale. HID headlight upgrade and a factory looking tachometer too.
Engine resealed with newer valve cover gaskets and push rod tube seals. Leaks no oil currently (rare on a Corvair!). Valves and rockers adjusted, compression checked and the Carbs rebuilt by Wolf Industries. New fuel pump, battery and a throaty dual exhaust system. A very turn key car. ISSUE OF NOTE : A unknown choppy idle at standstill is present. Not noticeable at any speed. Just at idle. Car has amazing power, probably the quickest 110 I've ever driven and I've driven A LOT of these cars. The idle issue is a mystery and I've been unable to fully correct it. The car is seemingly perfectly usable as is and most wouldn't even notice it, assuming it was normal. I just felt the need to be fully transparent. I make not claims to this condition otherwise. At this point I am selling the car as is. Too many cars. Need to thin the heard.
This is a real gem of a Corvair. Will be an absolute bargain for the right buyer. I've owned lots and lots of these cool cars. They are like snow flakes. No two alike. Corvairs are very specific and unconventional cars. I like the buyer to understand that. This car will come with an unused, custom car cover, service manual and Clark's Corvair Parts catalog. I also have a video of the car running I can forward to anyone interested.
A $500 deposit is due at listing end with the remaining due within 7 days. I can arrange reasonable transport also. PLEASE be sure you can follow through with the transaction as all non paying buyers are reported.
