i’ve been floating the idea of selling my black 1988 535i with fresh m30b35 rebuild and goodies. 10,000OBO **videos available upon request! No rust! pick up in Puyallup WA or buyer arranges transportation.
rebuilt and swapped in a 1990 m30b35. timing chain, guides, oil pump, bearing, rings, injectors, complete reseal.
head was also rebuilt with 284 regrind camshaft.
replaced transmission with newer style and lower mile getrag 260/6. with new M5 clutch and fly wheel. new throw out and pilot bearings. DSSR
i have an M5 shifter/linkage to go with sale.
nice longtube headers with sports exhaust.
currently has a 2.93 LSD and though it makes the acceleration disappointing MPG is unbelievable.
a good 3.73 e30is LSD will come with it.
has a miller war chip and MAF installed. with sale an oem MAF and e34 airbox and additional unmodified ECU (attended to modify airbox to install and look oem)
the L series recaros are genuine. they sat on display in a shop since the late 80’s. they’re immaculate! only being installed in a car for the first time a few months ago and sat in about 6 times.
additionally i have 4 yards of vintage recaro monza blue fabric. I attended to have the black seat redone to match the blue Monza seat. and then would have plenty material left over for door cards and maybe rear seats.
finally, I have a complete blue interior in nice condition (carpet could use thorough cleaning before install ) that will also go with the sale. and a good black leather rear seat.

All work listed was completed in December. the ODO reads 220xxx. the exterior is in fair shape but is original paint. the worst blemish being clear coat peeling on the spoiler. M5 style rims. the only mechanical problem that hasn’t been addressed is a surge/stuttering it does occasionally when cold that start up. i suspect it’s the tps as it’s meant for an automatic car and has been converted. then again it could be the war chip causing it. i’ve taken the car to ohio and back to the seattle area with no problems.
almost forgot the cars AC system has been converted to 134a but i never recharged the systems after the engine swap or installed the belt.
as a bonus i have crates of extra parts to go with the sale in addition to everything i already mentioned. grills, lights, tail lights, cv shafts ect ect
