1982 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. Full Restoration. Clean Utah title. USA Spec FJ40.
I've owned this land cruiser for a couple of years - during which time I took it through it's restoration process. Everything I can think of has been done on this vehicle. It looks amazing and drives even better. My wife and I drive it around town to run errands, grab an ice cream cone, etc. Basically I drive it around to show it off! It's a real head turner.
1982 FJ40's are more and more rare since only 800 ish were imported to the USA. 4.2L 2F engine and 3.73 gearing allowing this 40 to handle higher freeway speeds. Disc front brakes, 4-speed transmission.
The big items I restored/repair/replaced:
Top end engine rebuild: The intake valve on the 5th cylinder was stuck. I pulled the head & sent it to a machine shop. We replaced the valve. I pretty much replaced everything in the engine compartment at the time (starter, fuel filters, valve cover, valve cover gasket, side cover gasket, air intake, coolant tubes, etc.
New paint. Toyota cement grey 1H5. Even more beautiful in person than in photos.
Has an ARB air locker in the rear diff. (Although I don't have it hooked up to the compressor).
Upholstery: Professionally done front seats. Cool cruisers jump seats.
Headliner, dash, emblems, stickers.
All electrical working including all components in the cluster, dash, signals, marker lights and license plate holder.
Original front floor mat, aftermarket rear. Original seat belts.
New front windshield glass. Original glass in the hard top and doors.
New front door panels.
New door weatherstripping.
New Black Rhino wheel with new 33x12.50/17 tires - including the spare.
New bumperettes and front off road bumper.
Oil pan pulled, painted, new oil pan gasket.
Dash knobs and heaters removed, cleaned, restored.
Shackle reversal. This is a must have. Reduces sway and improves obstacle rolling.
New/stronger front drive shaft.
LED headlight upgrade
Bikini top included.
Custom roof rack.
Stock 4 speed transmission and transfer case - both operational.
Restoration Process:
I broke this entire vehicle down to nuts and bolts. Sent it all to the sandblaster. Rebuilt using stainless hardware. After sandblasting I etch seal it, body, filler primer, seal, paint. Paint in pieces and reassemble. Zero rust on this vehicle. I also lay down colorized raptor liner on the inter floor boards and rear bed.
