1971 Dodge "Dude" pickup truck. Excellent candidate for a restoration, resto-mod, or patina finished cruiser. Solid body with minimal rust. Cab supports, rocker panels, and door well step areas are in great shape with minor rust to deal with. Parts laid out in the driveway go with the truck. New parts include a manual steering drag link and tie rod ends recently installed, along with new master cylinder, wheel cylinders (4), taillight gaskets, windshield gasket (including lock strip), and the radiator top splash shield. Fuel tank has already been dipped and flushed.
Additional parts are available through Exline Products as they carry a good selection of mechanical and restoration parts.
Dodge first introduced the unique "Dude" paint and tape scheme in 1970 and again in 1971. The Dude Sports Trim Package was offered on longbox D100 Sweptline 1/2 ton pickups. Unique options included the full-length body side C-stripes, similar in design to the 1970 Super Bee, which include a Dude hat logo along with body color outside mirrors and gas cap. Dude's were offered in six body colors including Sublime, Plum Crazy, Burnt Orange, Lemon Twist, Tor Red, and Turquoise. TV actor Don Knotts, Deputy Barney Fife in the classic "Andy Griffith Show", was part of the promotional campaign. In all, less than 1,000 Dude pickups were manufactured, making them a worthy additional to any collection.
