1984 Dodge Rampage Pro - Street /Drag Race Car . Has full frame and full cage. With it theme of a race car in mind aluminum was used from the
dashboard to the complete floor, trans tunnel, box floor and sides, right to the tale gate. The outside is stock body parts from a1983/1984 body. The steel panels were lighter than the fiberglass replicas, I modified the hood so I could make room for the tunnel ram on the engine. Then covered it with a custom scoop to catch all the air to make it breathe. In the rear I built an aluminum deck to cover the box a put a spoiler on it to give it some down force at high speed. All wheelwells were modified to fit wheel base and tire sizes.
The engine is a modified 440 block to 451 ci. with BME aluminum rods and Venolia pistons, balanced and blue printed, custom oil pan an oiling system w/ swinging pickup from Milodon, external lines, filter and cooler. Next we have custom aluminum heads held on with studs. The head where ported and polished It supports a roller cam, lifters from Comp Cams and Harland Sharp roller rockers, covered with aluminum valve covers from Moroso. It has a Fluid Damper and aluminum pulleys from March Performance. Its is all tied together with a gear drive. Next is the intake. Mopar Performance tunnel ram that was gasket matched, ported and polished to match the heads, aluminum valley pan and on top is 2 x 750 cfm Edelbrock carbs w/ air filters and linkage. Fuel is supplied from a 12 gallon fuel cell w/ roll over valve in the pickup box with 1/2 aluminum fuel line with a Holley fuel pump and a Russel log fuel filter to Russel braided lines attached to the carbs. The exhaust is custom headers to a tri-y connectors from Flowmaster, 31/2 exhaust pipes, DynoMax mufflers and Super Trap mufflers.
The ignition systems is mostly MSD and Mopar Performance.
The transmission is a modified hemi style 727 w/ manual reverse valve body and a 9 torque converter both from Turbo Action and a Hurst Shifter controlling it.
The reared is a narrowed 8 3/4 dodge w/ full back bracing, custom axles, 4:30 Richmond gears and all new bearings from Strange Engineering. Also has large joint drive shaft.
The rims are Weld Wheel Superlite II. 15 x 5 and 15 x 14. The rubber is Goodyear in front and in the rear 19.5 x 33 from Mickey Thompson.
The front brake system is mustang II style from Bears Strange Engineering with the addition of an adjustable proportioning valve from Wilwood and roll control from Hurst. The rear brakes are 10 Mopsr items. It has custom emergency brakes and a parachute from Strange Engineering .
The front suspensions is mustang II style with a custom front cross member solid aluminum rack bushings to fit the Flaming River rack. The upper tubular control arms are from Strange Engineering and the lower arms are from Hortons Rod shop and trailing arms are from Strange Engineering. Steering column is from a 1970 Dodge Challenger and shortened 24. All the steering joints and knuckles are from Flaming River. The steering wheel and horn button are from Grant. The rear suspension is Strange Engineering parts, Pro Ladder Bars, safety loops, diagonal link and coil- overs w/ Springs. The wheelie bars are from Competition Engineering.
On the inside sitting on the black carpet, there are 2 aluminum racing seats w/ black vinyl covers from RCI. 5 point racing harnesses from RJS, drivers window ribbon net from RJS. The dash is stock Rampage on top with the rest is custom aluminum. Sporting a full set of Autometer gauges, and custom switch panels. Headliner is black and door panels are aluminum with some black fine carpet. All the interior roll bars are covered with padding from Kirkey. The floors and trans tunnel and box are all fabricated from aluminum and sealed with urethane then painted to match the outside paint.
Since this was a Pro Street car it also have a small Dodge ialternator with a cut off switch, high & low beam lights, extra large aluminum radiator from Griffin w electric fan from PermaCool and thermostatic switch, aluminum electric water pump from CSI Performance products with manual override switch, also a custom water filler neck from Moroso. There are all the proper indicator and warning lights. Push button start switch and all the necessary switches. The MSD Ignition system is also mounted in the dash. The batteries are in the box at the farthest possible spot for great ballast along with the fuel cell. Also there a 2 full manuals I made that list everything for the car and part numbers, they go with the car. And something else, this car has won many trophies and plaques when was showing it in Canada and the USA. There is about 6 big boxes full. They can go with the car too!
